I do the E40k scale flyers too. Like the design of the FW, but cannot see the point of embiggenment.

Gold platoon.
The command platoon for the company, it is made up of the senior officer, his immediate crew, and the veterans of the company. I imagine these guys being the toughest members of the former gang.

As the bases have the same stats as any other base, I represented their ability to punch above their weight in a firefight by putting less models on each base.

I also painted up a unit of sentinels to go with them.


The commander has been assigned the regimental standard. A commissar ensures his loyalty.

The colours are so simple to do, grey spray, black wash, black detail, gunmetal, a little dab of flesh and platoon colour helmets and badges.
Nice and simple, and stands out just fine.

I have gotten another platoon done, which in most cases will be 2 detachments.
Green platoon are composed of the old assault guardsmen models. I'll be using them as Stormtroopers or their equivalent in most games.



I did a total of 17 bases which used up all my models. This is enough for 2 detachments of troopers in most EA IG lists, and also enough for a company card in netEpic.

Note that the commissars are magnetic, as is the random guy at the back of this stand. So I can go commissar free if I need them elsewhere.


I still need to figure out Valkyrie equivalents that are in character for these guys. I'm leaning towards scratch built grav attack vehicles, but may use some of those old ig land speeders if I can source any.

Still left to do, whiteshields, abhumans, fortifications and a reaver titan.

Very old-school :-). one thing that is a bit of a pity is that the ground and the uniform are exactly the same, so it is pretty hard to pick the inf out.

@Nitpick, you are right. That is the price I'm paying for having all my armies based the same (in both 40k and Epic) so that they match my table. They don't look as bad in the 40k version of the army, but I'm committed now and can't go back!
Also in other news heavy unit "Doomkitten" should be assembled soon, to bring my heavy squad up to 5 units to make it usable in netEpic games if I ever play any.

...and just to add a bit more weight to what Nitpick was saying I have painted up the ratling snipers.
These chaps blend into the grey bases even more than the other troops, due to the absence of bright colour markings on the unit. Apart from Harbo, their leader, who seems to have a death wish.





I'm not too worried about their grey blandness, they are snipers after all!

So that's it for now. Another 8 stands down. I think I'll do the white shields next.
