On the topic of Nurgling heads, I used them a lot on the next unit, Death Guard Vindicators. I really wanted to try and capture the possessed machine spirit feel and build the idea of the vehicles infested with nurglings. To capture this, I used 40k nurgling and plaguebearer faces and used the green stuff to help meld them with the chassis. I think this helps to carry on the theme of faces on Nurgle vehicles that is also seen with the Plague Towers and Contagion Engines. Thes and bald patches are just to further show the corruption. Feedback always welcome!ImageImage

Crotch horn always wins. Therefore it will always be a crotch horn.

Great job on the vindies too. Some paint and washes will really bring that greenstuff/bitz work together.

Hi!

This will be of much use when my projects turn to doing nurgly stuff.

A most useful and awesome conversion resource!

There's a few finger print marks in the putty, not sure if you're going over it again or not. If not, they're annoyingly visible when you paint them, as a heads up.

Awesome, I'm glad that these are a hit so far!

Primarch - Glad I could offer some inspiration! Buying plague bearer head bits is a great resource. It gives you the heads and mouths to use, plus their horns can be trimmed and commodered as other bits.

Dave - Thanks for the heads up on the print marks. I'll go back and make sure I smooth the final surfaces out.

I got mine right off of eBay from Hoard O' Bits. 15 heads for $8.49, free shipping. I've used them for a bunch of different odds and ends, always without trouble. Pretty quick shipping too.

Finally got around to getting my hands in a warhound Titan and doing a little conversion work to transform it into a Fester Titan . I wanted to capture a look of a Titan that was ancient, corrupted, and possessed by the warp and daemons but still keep the mechanized weapon of war feel.

I used green stuff to create textures of fleshy cover, like with the vindicators. I took advantage of the extra open space to also sculpt areas of infestation and corruption with holes and sores. One spot specifically was sculpted so the sores created the three circles of Nurgle.

Along the back, I glued a "spine" and fastened it on with green stuff. I wanted to give the impression of the spine and spikes growing out of the back of the Titan as part of it's possession and corruption. I also added a large "tear" on the left back shoulder. Two hands were included to give the impression that some daemon in the Titan was breaking out to then pull the Titan itself apart exposing a tear to the warp with daemonic mouths hungrily trying to break the plane of reality.

I hope you guys like it. As always, feedback is appreciated! Paint job to follow now that the base coat is on:

The forum didn't like your TapaTalk URLs as images so I changed them to links. The 'hound looks good. Definitely chaosy but not immediately apparent that it's a conversion with a basecoat down (a good thing, I think).

Thanks for fixing that Dave. It was showing up on mine, never would have realized. And thanks for the compliment. I wanted to really capture that fusion of mechanical and organic, and if the converting isn't super apparent with the bc down, I think that's a success.

This summer has been incredibly busy with work, but found some time to get back to tinkering with my Death Guard army and worked on converting a Champion of Nurgle. It's a bit hard to tell, but I tried to pull inspiration from the Warhammer version with the axe and swollen stomach.Image
