I am building me a Necron army for Epic 40,000. I have no experience with Shapeways. Now I have found this very interesting model: https://www.shapeways.com/model/1187519/6mm-deathbot-war-pyramids-x4.html?li=user-wishlist&materialId=60 Are there any players who could tell me if this Shapeways model will be usefull for painting and playing? (I'd like to order in "White Strong & Flexible plastic". The cost is acceptable.) |

WSF is very grainy, you'd be better off in the frosted detail or ultra frosted detail. There's a new material called white strong and polished, or something like that. I'm assuming it's less grainy but have no idea how smooth it is or what the crispness of the detail is like. |

Frosted ultra is really expensive: €58.65 + shipping I solved the monolith problem pretty cheap. Necron shields. ![]() |

Now that is good. I've used those shields to make up my Dark Eldar Barge of Pleasure models. |

Having printed my own angry robot temples i would recommend 'White Strong & Flexible Polished' for a good balance between material grain and cost. I second Dave's suggestion about Frosted Detail if you're not on a budget. ![]() |

The FD and FUD cast well too, that keeps costs down eventually. |

For the wsf I suggest to use a coat of lucid, two hands of this. It is PERFECT!!!!!!! Look this is a monolith and two obelisk in wsf painted, ordered from Shape. The monolith proxy with the shield are terrible, sorry ![]() ![]() For information about my necron army - LINK: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25181 |

Not to irradiate your cheerios... I'm sure he could have said something, and he posts pics of his work here in any event. But my personal rule is that if someone's going to get nailed, it won't be by me. I think about some of the great lines that have gotten trashed due to loose talk and it makes me a sad panda. |

The Shapeways store. GrimDarkBits comes to mind. Of course they were not being exactly quiet about things and being silly but point stands. Anyways... back to interesting Necon stuff! Attachment:
