I have a drop pod sized hole in my Marine army. They're one of the few remaining Marine items in the GW store, but at 12.30 for 2 (and I need 16!) I'm not getting them from there. I see old ones come up on ebay from time to time but always at silly prices, and of course a single blister only gets you 6 (I think), so I'd need to track down a few, and also I'm not a massive fan of the style of the old ones. So anyway, I'm looking for clever alternatives. I saw the Exodus Wars deployment pods but just don't like the look of them. Are there any other ready made alternatives out there? I was going to buy the GrimDarkBits ones, but GW obviously doesn't want me to. If not, I also thought about making something to suit. I'm thinking there must be something in the 40K bits range that could be pressed into service, but I'm not familiar with the game these days to know offhand. So does anyone have/use some clever (and hopefully cheap) method to get drop pods on the board? |

You need 16? At 1 per formation? |

I don't know what a formation is, I assume it's from E:A which I don't play. In NetEpic you buy them for companies, you get 10 transport pods to replace the Rhinos, 3 Deathwind pods to launch a one-off missile salvo and 3 plasma cannon pods to provide supporting fire. |

Well if you don't want Exodus War Pods (which I like !), GZG makes some - http://shop.groundzerogames.net/index.p ... ductId=590 ... There are 3 types, next to the GW Pod - ![]() |

See, it's the UFO 'pod' style that I don't really like. I think it's too curvy for an Imperial vehicle, most of which are very boxy and angled. Edit: Having looked at the EW ones again, they're not quite the round blobs I first thought. They might suit, but does anyone know if the various tank turrets will fit the top of it? I don't want them to all have guns, I need a mix to distinguish the types of pod. I'm still interested in the idea of using 40K bits to make pods, if anyone knows of a suitable part to base it on. |
