Hi,

here's the first Titan of my Legio Gryphonicus. Note that I used a grey and Gold scheme instead of the traditional grey and yellow... just because I thought it looked better. :D

EDIT: Such a beast cannot go unname, so let me introduce you to the Lux Aeternam. :)

Better pics to come soon.

Now THAT'S a titan!

I really like the color scheme, and are those windows on his legs?  Looks sharp!

Heh.  That's my legion of choice too - despite being recently eaten by Hive Fleet Leviathan.  And with the same colour arrangement I had in mind (mostly grey with a bit of trim - 'xcept I'm sticking with yellow). :p

Very nice.  Neatly done, and I like the little details too - leg windows and plasma weapon glow.
And I have to mention the base, too.  It says to me that it's too big (great, powerful, etc.) to be restrained by such a thing. :D

Very Well Done!

I agree, the windows on the legs just bring out the size very well.

One of the best Emperor class titans I've seen, awesome work.

Very nice :) Reminds me to repaint my Imperator titan in Legio Victorum colors.

Have they? Missed that bit of fluff... but Leviathan missed an Imperator (And more Titans to come?), so I'm allowed that :p

Lovely work - the gold works well with the grey, and that plasma is the works!  :D

I finally like an Imperator - never thought that would happen!

What's this about Legio Gryphonicus being eaien by 'nids? I must have missed it. Anyone got a reference?
Regards,
Reaver

It's in the latest Tyranid Book for 40K, in the background piece for - as mentioned - Hive Fleet Leviathan. ?Let me just find it...

Here we are. ?The reader's digest version is that Imperial forces were overstretched (what with Orks being a nuisance etc.) and there was little they could do to stem the Hive Fleet's advance. ?So Inquisitor Kryptmann ordered a cordon of evacuated worlds in the Hive Fleet's path, denying the Nids those worlds as sustenance. ?This included ordering Exterminatus on any worlds already under invasion. ?To quote: "To this day it remains the single largest act of genocide ever inflicted upon (by?) the Imperium upon its own since the Horus Heresy."

But I'm getting sidetracked.
Tesla Prime and Gryphonne IV fell under this cordon; but while the AdMech reluctantly abandoned the first, they felt they could, or must, hold out on the latter. ?They mustered all their forces before the first mycetic spores impacted.
"Within days, the world was scoured, and Hive Fleet Leviathan had moved on."

I'm not so fond of it, myself. ?It smells of the usual GW 'we must make them seem invincible!' practise for each army book. ?But that didn't affect my choice of Legio, and I wouldn't expect it to affect anyone else's choice.
Especially as it doesn't say anything about Titan Battlegroups tht weren't on Gryphonne IV at the time. ;)

Thanks for the digest Uunlucky choice of word, there, considering it's Nids we're talking about...) version, Vermis - and I agree with your take on the matter :D :D :D

Ooh! :O   That is a fantastic Titan... [wipes drool from lower lip]

Outstanding work!

Re: the 'Nids munching Gryphonne IV... it annoys me when GW write almost 'dismissive' fluff like this to justify making one army seem more powerful than another... It just doesn't seem to be the reality of who armies work in the game.  I'd like to see someone stage a 'Fall of Gryphone IV' campaign in Epic/40k/BFG...  and tell GW where to stuff their fluff :;): if the Ad Mech won!

Well, the idea is that the Titans of the legion were fighting basically unsupported. And while they may be awesome god-machines, the Tyranids have their own super-heavies, and can fill in the rank and file armies much better then an unsupported Titan Legion and Skitarii. Also remember the Tyranid 'style' of combat: Throw things away as easily as bullets, after all you'll get their bio mass back when you absorb the planet anyway. I'd imagine the AMTL would get worn down, one machine at a time, by an almost endless wave of tyranids with the combind bio-mass of a dozen worlds behind them. Probably taking a horrible tole for each Titan which falls.. But the  Titans won't be replaced, and the Tyranids will. They're fighting a war of attrition against the best army in the galaxy to win such a conflict.
