Hello all! This is my first post here, and I am excited to join such a cool community.

I've got my Blood Angels pretty well done, and I ordered up a bunch of Chaos hordes from GW before they were all gone, and got a couple of vehicles and whatnot from ebay. I've got enough for a decent little force.

I am leaning towards using the Red Corsairs list as it offers more flexibility / fun than Black Legion, I think.

What legion would you recommend? This is mainly a question of aesthetics. A couple criteria -

1. Flexibility - I don't want to be limited in what units I can use and would like to stay Undivided (so no World Eaters, Death Guard, etc).

2. Preferably not red. My Epic Blood Angels are bright red and my 40k Chaos army is bright red. I might consider a dark red like Word Bearers (who I think are very cool, incidentally)

3. Pretty and "pop". Black Legion could be cool, but since we're dealing with such a "gentlemanly" scale, it's easy for things to get lost on the tabletop if they are dark.

Just throwing ideas out there - I was thinking maybe Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, Warp Ghosts, Iron Warriors or Night Stalkers.

Would love to start some discussion! Thank you!

I intend to run my Iron Warriors sometimes as Red Corsair list myself. Any if the the Chaos Undivided legions make for a good candidate imo.

I really like both lists (well I am the Iron Warriors army champ ).

Try google imagle search and coolminiornot (ordered by descending rating to see the best stuff) for 'Chaos Space Marine' or whatever for inspiration.

Paint them whatever colours you feel like, the old legions fragmented into warbands with different schemes and the 10,000 or so Marines that've turned since the Heresy have too.

You don't necessarily have to stick to just one scheme either, I'm doing a Black Crusade army with 1-2 formations from each of the 9 legions. It'll look more chaotic and be more interesting to paint and easier to distinguish between in game.

I am also desperately seeking Defilers, Blood Slaughterers, and things of that nature. If anyone knows where I can find proxies or anything like that, please feel free to PM me.

Seems like Iron Warriors is a popular choice. How is it to paint? Is it a pretty easy scheme? Seems like a coat of leadbelcher, maybe a black wash, and highlights with Boltgun, then the gold and yellow trim and done.

Onyx - I just checked out your Iron Warriors list in the Chaos forum. Really cool stuff! Very intriguing.

Also, I knew I had seen your army somewhere! You're in Perth, right? I could have sworn I saw your army on the Only War Epic Tournament website. Very, very cool! Love your Decimator. I wish there was such an active Epic scene here in L.A.

I also checked out your painting log thread. Very impressive stuff all the way around.

GlynnG, it's a great idea about doing different legions and factions, and I think that's what I will do to keep painting fresh and also because chaos is, well, chaos!

The red corsairs list is a bit messy, but it provides the best selection of units that match the modern incarnation of 40k.
