Post subject: | Which glue? advice please. |
Hi guys i have been recently attempting to glue the arms onto some 6mm metal figures without much luck. I use Zzap superglue for the most part but this does not seem to have the strength to hold the arms in place as i keep knocking them of again without much effort. As i'd rather note have to be continually reglueing them on when painting and using them in games i was hopeing somebody here could offer some advice. ![]() Cheers |

I have heard it said that superglue on one side, and epoxy on t'other is very good, although when the epoxy sets, you'll struggle to remove said items without damage.....I use some superglue which was sold to me on the premise that it would "stick a car to a tree" it was very good, but went off quickly, will get the brand name when I'm home this evening if you like |

Epoxy glue is the best. 5 minute stuff should be strong enough. I have a collection of clamps (called Helping Hands) that I leave the stuff clamped to whilst I do something else. I cover the claws with plastic tape to get a smooth surface. |

I will tell you I've used tacky glue for all my infantry and never had a problem. Since a lot of the mini's are resin and plastic, I took to using tacky glue so that they would rip off the bases before breaking and it works. I also use it for metal infantry and it works fine. You can glop it on and it will dry down to nothing, it's clear, and you can un-base your models with little difficulty in the event you want to switch something up. Oh, and it's cheap. |

If superglue isn't working you could try scrubbing your models with some water and a toothbrush first, sometimes this helps. I've noticed quite a few epic models won't glue well unless they are cleaned first. |

I use Instant Jet, Super Jet, and Slow Jet depending on what I am needing to accomplish. Amazing stuff and works perfect on 6mm http://www.jetglues.com/index.shtml |

Thanks for the pointers guys, there does not seem to be a common solution so i guess i will just have to keep trying different glues until i find one i can get on with. |

i use Zzap regularly and Bruticus' suggestion is very helpful...a warm soapy bath for the figures will clean off any residue left from the molding process, especially resin & metal figues...for plastics i used a glue made for gluing plastic, but cant recall the name... |

I have had pretty good luck lately with my Zap that I got at Gencon last year. Usually, any superglue or epoxy or whatever just will not glue consistently. I will be sorry when I run out of this bottle, the glue gods might not favor me next time. |

I find it helps if your using superglue to keep it in the fridge between uses..... Not that the Mrs is happy about it |
