Only through combination of willpower, poverty, depression, and toy-shame was I able to avoid signing up for the Robotech kickstarter. I did love Robotech as a teenager, though, and really want samples of some of the toys. So, if any of you guys participated and have a few leftovers (one of each, wink wink), keep me in mind. |

I loved the Battletech MAD-3R Marauder, and was rather surprised to learn that it is really a blatantly ripped-off Glaug Battlepod... Now I've found the old Robotech tv series, and find it good. Perhaps my kids will learn english too from it, it isn't subtitled... I have neither willpower nor toy-shame, and will have spares of most of the figures come december... Can I trade you some for interestingly shaped bits of metal? |

I participated, but probably won't have any extras unless I decided to buy more stuff when the pledge manager is released (I'm still hurting from the MYTH and Rivet Wars kickstarters, and an old .45-70 trapdoor rifle). Now, if someone is interested in Rivet Wars, I think I will have an entire factions worth of kickstarter stuff I won't be using. Maybe. @SpeakerToMachines: Robotech was an American-ized version of an anime named Macross. Not quite a totally blatant rip-off, but it's close. I too enjoyed Robotech when I was a child. The Robotech kickstarter garnered over $1 million US. Not bad for a TV show that hasn't put out much new content since 1985. Aside from the role playing books and one failed series and one new animated movie. I am looking forward to the challenge of painting their 1/285 scale (so they say, they do look a bit big for that scale) EXACTLY as they are in the anime. Gack. |

Almost. Robotech was an imported series which was actually three totally seperate Japanese series all rolled into one - Macross SDF, Mospedia and Southern Cross. The three original series were spliced together to form a new series, loosely sticking to the original plots. Its the flip side of what happened with Battle of the Planets, which was a single Japanese series - Gatchaman - which was re-cut and released as three individual series to the West - Battle of the Planets, G-Force and Eagle Riders. |

That's exactly what is was, I don't really need the lesson about it. I was just hitting the high points for Speaker. |

splash wrote: I was just hitting the high points for Speaker. Yah. I did the deep googling while dithering over whether to jump into the kickstarter, and found out all these things. It's just that I came from an entirely different angle. I've played FASA's Battletech, where the Tomahawk Destroid (under the alias WHM-6R) features prominently on the cover, and as I said I always loved the MAD-3R Marauder. But I'd never seen Robotech until the Kickstarter got me interested... |

I have a tiny reserve for just such an occasion. Goody. That's my Christmas presents to me sorted then. |

Anyone show up for the Robotech demos at Gencon, and/or get the exclusive minis? |
