Hi guys, I've been recently bitten by the Epic bug (just in time for SG to be cancelled - Sod's law). I used to play epic years and years ago (2nd edition I think) but was never really brave enough to paint my models. Now I'm a grown-ass man I want to rectify that! Here's the dread with a slightly ropey 360, I haven't managed to find a good turntable yet (any suggestions?). I'd love to hear some comments and criticism, especially regarding freehand techniques! ![]() Thanks in advance! |

Welcome (back) to Epic! ^_^ Everything looks great! Just the checkers seem to be a bit shaky ![]() Keep them coming! |

Other than needing to finish that purity seal on the chest it looks pretty damn good! It's hard to draw your eye away from that spinning Dred, oddly mesmerizing! Welcome back to Epic! |

@MrGonzo: the checkers are indeed a bit shaky! I went back over that bloody shoulder at least three times, in the end my impatience got the better of me. I freehanded them with a brush, but I'm sure there's a better method I'm not aware of. Tiny stencils? Epic scale transfers? Open to suggestions! @CaptainSenioris I actively chose not to paint that purity seal actually - I've got three other Contemptors to paint and I thought it might look a little silly if they all have seals in the same place. I was hoping to play it off as just another armour detail, but now it's been mentioned it's started to bug me! ![]() Thanks for the feedback guys! |

With contemptors you can also add variety by cutting and rotating the gun & waist, changing the heraldry works too though. The matching purity seals will look minor if you do either. |

I'm definitely going to vary the heraldry on the shoulder pad and powerfist, cutting at the torso sounds like a good idea too. Ideally I'd like to do a weapon swap on two of them to give them the LC/ML option, but I thought that might be a bit much for my first foray into 6mm! |

Cheers guys, appreciate the comments! My girlfriend is away on a hen do this weekend, so I plan on drinking an extortionate amount of energy drinks and getting loads more finished! Hopefully should have some more to show you by Monday. ![]() |

Criticism? Yeah your freehand is better than mine ![]() There's plenty of checkered transfers available out there that work on 6mm that I've seen on the boards. If you want to save some time that's another route you can take. Welcome! |

That sounds like a much better solution, although I suppose I'd never get better if I just used transfers! Doing it right vs doing it easily...tough choice! |

Thanks guys, thought it was about time I stopped lurking and got involved, this seems like a good mature community! I painted that purity seal btw...couldn't ignore it any more! Looks much better. |
