I have been looking in to (finally) getting myself a few IG to make up a more RL inspired force (Much less grim dark, far more gritty dark)
I'd like to go for a WW1 English troop theme, whilst using both WW1 vehicles and WW2 tanks to get close approximations to the real life inspiration for the 40k mechanised units.
The H&R's figures seem great value- especially the vehicles themselves. Pack of around 48 minis is only £2.50, and around 40p for a Mark V tank.
I understand from my Google searches that they are actually a bit smaller then GW (around 5mm) but being standard non-genetically enhanced humans I thought that they would probably look the part, especially as they will be up against my orcs, which bar one or two home made mega orcs and a couple of the new EA character sculpts, are all the old style small plastic ones, which are a fair bit smaller then a lot of the epic range.
I know Irregular do a range of 6mm WW1 as well, and as I am considering placing an order with them any way to fill in some missing gaps for my fantasy goblins as well as some models for a start of a chaos dwarf army(for Mayhem) I could always fill in any gaps with them.
Is there list about of the 40k tanks that shows there real life counterpart or is it all guess work?
Will the Size of H&R's look terrible against other epic counterparts?
My other option was order from baccus and use the COLONIAL WARS minis for a Praetorian Guardsmen force (which I was always fond of, from the big games day display from '97)
(but after 2 weeks I'm still waiting for my parcel from them!

)
Way more expensive, and you need to order double amounts of each style of troop, per pack. But they do look awesome!
