KR make a rather bewildering range of trays etc. Various sizes of squares, pick and pluck etc, including a range of 6mm trays.

e.g. http://www.krmulticase.com/trays.aspx?type=S

What are the tray codes from the 6mm range that people find most useful for transporting epic?

And any thoughts on sizes suitable for BFG?

Thanks!

Exodus Wars will be having custom cases made for it's forthcoming army deals :-)

They should be perfect for you all.

For BFG - http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthrea ... se-for-BFG

Otherwise I find the 6mm trays a little too shallow for models. They are ok if all of the models in them are roughly the same hieght, but i have had SM Librarian staffs bent and broken because they stick up too much.

I use a mix of 6mm trays and regular depth. 6mm for stands without sticky up spiky bits, then deeper ones for anything else – i tend to get 4 stands into each compartment of the deeper trays as two placed base down fills the space, leaving room for two base up placed offset on top. + one pick n pluck done to taste.

I went through this exact thing last week.

Are the 6mm trays actually 10mm in depth? I did some measuring and it seemed too small for a lot of Epic infantry. In the end, the fact that you can't really mix and match the 6/10 mm trays with deeper ones for titans etc made me look at the core range instead (they don't make anything deeper than 23mm in the three-fifths system, nor half-width trays).

I got fed up comparing all the different varieties in the end, and filled a tray with D pick and pluck. I ordered one case and will see how it goes: one half filled with 1/4 deep trays, the other half with 1/3 and 2/3 deep trays:

4 x D4H (23mm deep)
1x D5H (70mm deep)
1x D3H (32mm deep)

It's much cheaper to order them as a "bespoke case" set rather than individually. I am hoping all the infantry and most tanks will go in the four quarter-deep trays. It will probably arrive tomorrow so will have a go soon.

I've got several for epic, and I also recommend halftrays, with 23mm deep ones for the infantry and most vehicles. A 5'er for the titans and then a 3'er on top of that for taller vehicles is perfect.

But I'm really looking forward to the custom EW cases! I'll hold off on a case for my Orks until I can see what they come up with.

(And speaking of orks, any more news on the Hoplon mkII? They want battlewagons :))

I agree hat the 6mm trays are probably too shallow for many infantry units. However, in many cases it will work. If you are using the strip bases you can put the taller ones face down. The advantage is that the 6 mm are a bit sturdier and more suitable to handling outside the case.

I put some minis in them sideways instead of up/down – generally command stands where everything else would bit in a 6mm but one figure has a taller banner. The bases are slightly proud of the edge sometimes but can take the pressure. … ideal for microworld 6mm dwarves as well, no risk of squashing there ::)
