Heyhey, I've got some old epic minis that I want to strip for my new Ork army, but I don't know how ( /if ) I can strip the plastic ones.... I know my brother once tried stripping a plastic Dwarf Warrior once with White Spirits, and it kind of melted ... So, does anyone have any techniques for stripping plastic minis? Strange about the Dwarf. I've used common household ethanol to strip plastic minis for ages without a single incident. Break fluid, Pinesol and Simple green are what most people recommend but I've never used that stuff (can't get hold of it in this part of the world) |

Ah, many thanks.... I think I'll try to get some brake fluid, or find out what Pinesol / Simple Green are.... Lol, TO YAHOO! *runs away* I'll also try to see if Dad's got any ethanol weaker than the stuff we stripped the Dwarf with... Pinesol and Simple Green are cleaning fluids which, I guess, are only available in the US. |

Simple green can be mail ordered from their web site in the UK, don't have the link handy right now. It works on metal and plastic and I would recomend it. [EDIT] There is a link to the Simple Green web site in this post Simple Green |

Ive found Dettol (uk disinfectant) to be a fantastic paint stripper as long as you soak miniatures overnight. The only problem is that the thinned paint tends to gunge up the brush, however rubbingthe brush regularly with dettol tends to clean out the gunk. The best bit of dettol is that it doesn't seem to affect plastic- even the eraly and flimsy SM2 era minis, however I would advise you to steep the miniatures in water after struipping as they can be a bit tacky to the touch. |

I have stripped both plastic and metal using oven cleaner (Easy-Off to be exact) with no effect on the plastic or metal. And it tends to work in about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the amount of paint. |

Meths work fine on plastics, thats what I've used in the past. |
