Hey all, just recieved some of the above as part of a trade, and I'm wondering if they're relatively undersized models?

(If not, my demon engines are a bit oversized, which is a little annoying.)

The old gun fortresses (Giblet Grinda and Skullhammer) are smaller than the new sculpts. If I remember correctly the "counts-as" list in the back of the rule book lists them as Gunwagons or possibly even Battlewagons.

The Gorgon MkII (if you mean the old mine layer) is roughly the size of a chimera, and nothing like the present Death Korps' Gorgon.

Hope that helps.

/Fredmans

Edit: I had to check my paper copy of the rule book and in the Ork section it actually says:

Gibletgrinda - Battlewagon (yes, really!)
Skullhamma - Battlewagon (yes, really!)

The Gorgon in the Imperial Collector's section counts as Chimera, but is statted with a transport capacity of 4.

I had to go and check the Gorgon. I could have sworn it was slightly bigger but.. my Chimerro was wider.

I remember the old battle fortresses being a bit bigger though. They definitely made the plastic Bonebreaker tanks look small.

maybe a photo will help (the gorgon has an empty back area, not a minelayer, so can't be a mrk2)

I don't know, I've got a mix of the old and new Ork 'Fortresses and I think they're all pretty close to the same size in terms of looks on the table. I'll get some pics for you.

I think the old Gorgan shot a barrel mine into the enemy just prior the assault troupes disembarking and charging in.

That's if my memory is still working...

I have a new battlefortress and an old gunfortress... I'll get a picture tonight or tomorrow. I'd say they look a lot more like gunfotresses than gunwagons. Their size is certainly in between the two, but the shape (and height) is very obviously fortress-like.

OK, here it is. The new battlewagon is on the left, out of focus.

Your gorgon is a MkII. The MkI was the mine layer with the "tail" behind it for laying minefields in the Space Marine 1st edition game. In 2nd edition the Gorgon became a proper assault vehicle that, as frogkiss12 points out, fires barrel mines at the enemy.

There are two variations of the MkII with one having a bigger main gun and mine launchers than the other. There's a thread on here somewhere showing the different types. The MkII's are bigger (wider) than the MkI, which is roughly the size of a Chimera.

hmm, so my demon engines are hugely oversized then. ach well, i'll live with it.
Just have to make sure the scale reep dosen't infect my other armies as I build them.
