What do you use? I am looking to fill a very small open tank with 5 mm transparent stuff. Seems to be a lot of opinions on various forums on which variant to get. Also, living in a small orner of he world, not everything seems readily available in Sweden.

I've only used Woodland Scenics Realistic Water on very small things so far but have seen it used very effectively in larger areas. I'd try that if you can get it (just add it in several layers of about 2mm and DON'T shake the bottle).

Have tried some resin casting and it was not a pleasant experience so comfort is important I suppose.

You don't need to as it doesn't seperate, like paints, and doing so creates air bubbles which you don't want (as elsmore said). I habitually shake stuff before using it so have to stop myself.

I'd wait and see what elsmore says about the Vallejo water effect. I've never been disappointed by their products and 35ml sounds like a better size for what you want. The Woodland Scenics Realistic Water comes in a large bottle and is really meant for rivers, lakes etc.

Got a bottle of Vallejo still from the honorable gentleman Barracks the other day. Incredibly greatful for your assistance! Have since proceeded to pour said liquid into a smallish tank on a vehicle to represent Nurgle goo. The stuff does creep hugging features and edged quite a bit and there is a baffling amount of shrinkage the order of magnitude of a Swedish winter bath experience.

Having said this, it is my first attempt and I cannot say that a two part resin is better. It should shrink less though. Also, while the volume of the tank is small it is rather deep, 4-5 mm, that could probably be troublesome regardless of liquid. I have done 3 pours an I think that I will need another 1 or 2.

I found the same. I slightly over-poured the first layer (4-5mm) which then shrunk back alarmingly. I then had to just add layer after layer until I was happy with it, probably 5-6 more. It looks great now but you have to be patient... and not pick up the piece shortly after pouring a layer to check the paint job on the back of another section, pouring the liquid into your lap. Avoid that if you can, it's very messy.

:-[ now he tells me! Managed to avoid clothes though. The most annoying bit is the clinging. Luckily I'm doing Nurgle goo, so that fits fairly well. Does not look like water though. I'll get back when im done.
