After having been amazed by Jes Goodwin's Necron concept sketches on GW's site, and scratchbuilding my own "Obelisk" transport/tank in 28mm scale before the Monolith nor Necron miniatures even hit the stores, I decided to give Epic scale a try for another 'Jes' concept-to-model... this time in metal (scrap copper wire of dif. gages, copper sheet, solder and cy-glue.) Thank you everyone. Just added the three prong weapon tips and "floating crystal" to the top of the altar. Pics will follow when finished painting. Warmaster Nice: Electronics Tech. by trade. Just thought I would try metals. I have done plastic in 28mm scale. Here's an example from another of Jes' Necron concepts, his War Tank ( the forerunner to the Monolith ) is my "Obelisk" tranport/tank. The Chaos marine just there for scale. Jes' concept  My Obelisk

Sturmeister: Nope... entirely scratchbuilt from sheet styrene and other odd Plastistrut shapes. Nothing on it is GW bits... including the "driver" oarsman. It took two days to build/paint(about 8 hr.s total ) and was completed about 2 months before the first Necron mini. hit the stores here in the U.S. I just liked the concepts that were posted on the site before the army was released. I was half way thru a monolith build when GW beat me to it.  The Epic War Altar is painted now  I just need to base it and snap a digi-pic. Will post later tonight. It took about 8 hr.s also, but that includes the time of reassembly... I dropped it on the hard floor. I found all of the pieces thankfully.Will |
