Hi,
I did a little background story for the Land Raiders deployed by the Custodes. Hope you like it...

Land Raider Guardian-Pattern
Prior to the fall of Anvilus 9, the Mechanicus workshops were developing an improved type of Land Raider for the Imperium. On orders from Rogal Dorn, several transports were loaded and sent to Mars to re-equip the loyalist being sent to crush Horus at Istvann V. On their way to Mars the transports were intercepted by naval forces declaring for Horus. Only one ship managed to make it to the Sol system and by then the Loyalist had already departed. The ship made its way to Terra to unload its cargo as Mars had erupted into another civil war between the Mechanicus. On closer inspection of the vehicles it was discovered that their weapon systems had been sabotaged.
So it was decided to strip the Land Raiders of their original weapons and re-arm them with available weapon stockpiles. One such batch of vehicles were gifted to the Custodes as heavily armored transports equipped with heavy bolters and thus was born the Guardian-pattern Land Raider. During the Siege of Terra the Guardians proved surprisingly effective at transporting the Custodes and providing supporting fire as they fought to hold back the vast hordes of Warmaster Horus. Now 10,000 years later the few Guardians that survived the Siege are permanently displayed in a vast hall as reminders of the glory of the Emperor.
