I just started painting the Guardians in the "new" Eldar Epic box set (new to me because I have a lot of the older Eldars) and I noticed two things: * "Heroic" scale ain't the word for it. * Those are some BIG, BAD shuriken catapults! (No wonder they are Firefight 4+!) What I was wondering was, what has gotten significantly beefier from the older days. I have not bought a box of Space Marines in the new boxes (dark red-brown with the Titan on the front), so I was wondering if they are significantly beefier than before. Do they match up to the Eldar Guardians? If so, I need a box. I am tired of all those whimpy Space Marines with the little heads and big shoulder pads. Oh yes, and not all Eldar are apparently equal. If you are a scrawny little Eldar, you apparently join the Shining Spears. ("But we have Big Spears!") |

All of the plastic space marine characters from E:40k (Apothicary, Librarian, Chaplain, Tech Marine) are bigger than the normal troopers, as are the SM scouts. You might also note that the shuiken catapult in 40k has also gotten bigger since the SM&TL days. |

But, I take it the SM are still on the smaller side, especially the heads? I think I have one of the newer sprues, but because I bought them loose from eBay, I don't know if they are the latest and chunkiest or not. I definitely don't have any of the new "cereal box" dreadnoughts. Thanks. |

Those were originally released for E40k. |

The SMs from E:40k are the Mk7 armor marines from the previous edition, not the original Mk6 "beakies." I think the only difference is the helmet and the raised border on their shoulder pads. I don't think the size changed any. |

Eventually all epic minitures will be 28mm scale. There will be a few rule changes to deal with moving individual figures rather than units ![]() |

The best thing about scale creep is that the figurs are a lot stronger which makes for better gaming utility. |

Scale creep is so... well, lets just call it silly... at 6mm it's absurd. True though... look at SM1/AT figs as compared to "true scale" 6mm like GHQ. Now though it's almost hitting the stage where I'd feel comfortable with using some of the GW figs in 10mm games. |

Scale creep is right, I'm beginning to use my original SM ork boyz as grots, they're the same size as the new cannon fodder ![]() The MkVI armour marines and guardians are also quite a bit smaller than the new with characters even bigger. Yup, definitely 10mm at this stage. ![]() |
