Yeeehaaa!!! I think i just did one of the best deals in my wargaming life! I advertised for Epic players on a Swedish forum and didn't get any response. One guy did contact me and asked if i would be interested in buying his models that he had lying around to no use. This is what i got:

The whole lot:

Vehicles for marines:

3 Unknown things, a thunderhawk and 3 superheavies:

Image

Eldar vehicles, bikes and land speeders:

Image

Marines, terminators, robots and Titans:

Buildings:

Image

Devastators, Imperial guards and Eldar Guardians:

Image

Rulebooks, templates and armycards:

So what did i pay for all of this? Well it wasn't for free i tell you. I had to pay.... wait for it.... waaaaiiittt for it... 60$!!!!! Wooohooo!!! I didn't belive my eyes when he said that figure. I thought he was joking with me! So now i'm one very happy wargaming nerd!!!

Granted, most of the models are so badly painted and broken that i can't use them. About 60% needs to go i think. But instead of throwing them away (I'm only gonna keep the non painted stands and all the larger vehicles) i'm gonna give them to the guys i play warhammer with so they can start their own armies too.

So what exactly did i get then. Well, heres a summary:

39 Land Raiders
53 Rhinos
1 Thunderhawk
3 Baneblades/Stormswords/whatever
3 Unknown tracked vehicles
9 Wave Serpents/Falcons (not sure what they are?)
34 Battlewagons
15 Land Speeders
2 Titans (Reavers??)
14 robots
27 Marine Bkes
16 IG Bikes
12 HQ Marine Stands
6 Terminator stands
12 Assault marine stands
22 Devastator marine stands
117 tactical marine stands
30 guardian stands
9 IG stands
11 Buildings
2xRulebook, templates and armycards for all the units
assorted orc stands...

For 60 dollars.... ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8)

Now, does anybody have a good suggestion how to strip paint from plastic models without damaging them??

Brake fluid is the best for the plastic. Also fairy power spray works but is far more slower.

And gongrats! I myself hit a super deal a few months a go, so I know how you feel :)

Fairy Power Spray and a hard toothbrush worked absolutely fine with my stuff.
No damage to the plastic (three types: green, off-white, grey) at all even after letting them soak for 12-14 days straight.

Brilliant deal, well done!

The unknown vehicles are Hellhounds - I know because I bought and painted up some recently!

Nice deal! The three unknowns look like old Hellhounds indeed. Being an environmental friendly type of nerd, I have used "Grönsåpa" (yes, a bit of Swedish there...) to strip paint off minis. They have to soak for quite some time, though.

I used purple power and it worked on plastic, metal, and fw resin. Be sure to wear gloves though- it will burn your skin with prolonged contact. (yep, that scar's still there!)

Thanks for all the info guys! Hellhounds huh? Cool , then i got something to use against thoose damn forest lurkers. Will probably play my first real battle tonight with the new minis.

Grönsåpa sounds great, but how long do i need to leave them to soak??

Cool to see more Swedes on here too. When i asked for Epic players at Sverok.se (thats the national federation of gamers website) i got 1 answer only...

Don't know what the Swedih equivalent of purple powder would be? Maybe it's Kaustiksoda?? Any of the other Swedes who knows?

I have a plastic box with a tight fitting lid full of såpa and minis (make sure the minis are fully covered with såpa). It does not harm plastic figures one bit. So the longer you soak them, the better the results. But we are talking several weeks minimum. As with all techniques the result is heavily dependent on the quality of the paint. I have had good results within a forth-night, whereas some stubborn stuff take months. I'd say with plastics you could expect results in a month and moderate brushing with a toothbrush.

So: dunk'em in and forget about them for a while. I am in no hurry and hate handling more nasty hobby stuff than absolutely necessary. Plus it smells nice :-)

There are a number of swedes on this forum that I know of. There is still a minute scene here, but it is a nice and friendly one though fragmented.
