Alas, I have come to the end of my last Imperial Strike Green bottle. Funny: this bottle, with its simple flip-top, lasted over 20 years, yet I have bottles of other GW paint from the "bolter shell" era that I *swear* dried up on the way home from purchase..... Anyway, nothing spells Imperial Guard like mass after mass of anonymous Codex Gray, backed by row after row or Strike Green artillary. The former has a replacement, but the latter does not. I'm going to have to try and find a mixture of paints to recreate this shade. But before I do..... ....has anyone else run into a water-based color (from any maker) that's very close to Imperial Strike Green? -Allen McCarley |

Try an ebay search for "imperial strike green", set to worldwide and searching description as well as just title. There's nothing right now but you can set it so that if anything matching this goes onto eBay you will receive an email informing you. I've used these email saved searches a lot to acquire rare OOP GW models. I use to have some of that paint myself, may still do somewhere, but it's in storage the other side of the world from where I'm travelling for the next few years, so not much help. Good luck! |

I hate those bolter shell paints, they were useless - hard to open, and dried up really quickly. By contrast almost all my old hexagon paints from the mid 90s are still absolutely fine. Imperial Strike Green - this was part of the Epic Battles paint set I think. Coat d'Arms don't market an equivalent as far as I know, but I never owned this paint so no idea if it matches something else. I'd fire off an email to Coat d'Arms, since they manufactured the original paints. |

Black Hat miniatures are, I think, the main distributor in the UK for Coat D'Arms paints: http://www.blackhat.co.uk/coat_darms/ Ordered from them previously, pretty sure the delivery was super speedy too. Best bit is the old round flip top pots... and to the poster above who said their hexagon pots are still good, I still have a pot of mithril silver and woodland green bought in 1992 that's still good to use ![]() |

Thanks for the suggestion of Coat d'Arms, guys. Unfortunately, they only go back to old GW paints, not old-old GW paints, but there is still a lot of good colors there at a reasonable price once you work out the replacement names.. Looks like they have lot's of non-GW colors too, with some interesting shades that might be close enough to work from if I wanted to create some Strike Green. Hard to tell on the computer screen; might need to order some and try it out. -Allen McCarley |

Cheers Sam Oh no, I would never bid on that. And neither should anyone else! Who in their right mind would ever bid on a bottle so old? Move along. Nothing to see here. <frantically presses "bid" button.....> Sam006, I owe you big for spotting this. -Allen McCarley |

If you have anything painted in the old colour you can spare, post it to me and I will see if I can match it up with Coat d'arms for you. I will post back the model regardless of course! |
