As requested, here's my IG army. I know that the stuff that actually is painted isn't painted very well! Perhaps it will give you all a bit of a chuckle!

As a teenager I had very limited monetary supplies. This explains the blobby Rhinos (aka Predators), and the crude rapiers. My friend built the Leviathan from some kind of modelling clay. I still think he did a really good job of it. Having recently returned to the game - and now armed with more favourable finances - I've started picking up a lot of stuff from ebay and if I spot a leviathan or two going at a reasonable price I'll be hoping to pick them up!

Hey

Nice collection of old stuff their and yes, a very clever Leviathan.

How about a bit of neat flock perhaps ? A good neat base makes even just base coated minis look good.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks chaps!

@Dogtrooper: I had a very bad experience with flock years ago and ended up with Marines that looked like they were half-buried in a mound of Smarties. Since then, I've tried to avoid using the "f"-word.

I did invest in some GW forest green paint so once I've finished painted everything, the stands will look a bit better than they do at the moment. I'll post up another pic to this thread once I'm done!

Cheers!

Nice old-school look of your army
for flocking: try sand
-paint glue onto base
-dig base into sand
-wait until its dry
-paint watered down glue over sand
-drybrush sand or wash it
-done

Also with flock or sand it's good to use a water-based glue (I use plain old Elmer's). This is because if you do run into the situation you described, you can take a wet paintbrush and brush off the excess - the water will loosen the glue enough to free the basing material.
