Hiya fellow gamers, being a new member to the forums I'd like to start a little modeling blog for my adventure into Epic Armageddon! Having played Epic 40k a couple times around '98-99, it never really took off in my area and my minis collected dust over the years till I sold them 4-5 years ago... big mistake in hindsight ![]() I recently rediscovered my interest in Epic Armageddon via TacCom and got in contact with the Central London Gaming Club, a great group of very active players! Now having received most of my army this week I start building things over the coming days, documenting my progress here. For my first army, I got massively inspired by fellow forum member Matt-Shadowlord and his amazing Star Wars themed Krieg army! Please find his thread here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20804 Being a big Star Wars fan myself, I'll (shamelessly) follow his ideas building a count-as Krieg army to hunt down and destroy the Rebel... ah, traitor scum! ![]() Here's an overview of all the goodies on my desk right now and for starters I'll put steel paper on every base for a magnetized transport solution. Attachment: Also quickly lined up my units for a scale comparison! Like many other peeps I'm making use of the great 90s Micro Machine miniatures, amongst Dark Realm Miniatures tanks and Risk AT-STs. More details later on! Attachment:

Thanks Onyx! Will try my best to come up with a similar result ![]() By the way, your blog is a great inspiration for me as well! Especially your superb Mechanicus and Tyranids army! Really like the look of the small oval bases! Had a great day modeling and while nothing really fancy yet thought I still write a little something. First, a closer look at my proxy tanks and titans! The iconic AT-AT will stand in as a Warhound or possible Reaver in my list. The model is from the Micro Machine X-Ray Fleet range and has a perfect imposing scale for Epic! Also a bit hard to see at the moment but it's very detailed with a clean and crisp casting. Attachment: It's little brother, the AT-ST was a very lucky find! The figure is from the Risk Star Wars Original Trilogy boardgame and after a nice chat with Hasbro's customer service I now got a whole bag of them (for dirt cheap). ![]() I am very happy with them scale wise, not minding the slightly lower detail on them. Felt that the Micro Machine ones are just to tall to work for standard IG tanks like Russes or Hydras. They only come in one pose, but a simple cut solves that. Attachment: Attachment: As you can see, I am going for a city fight look for the army with lots of little ruins all over the bases. That should help bringing them more into the 40k setting and will (hopefully) lead to my own city fight table in the future ![]() Attachment: The Snowtroopers/Stormtroopers are the famous Industrial Infantry from Dark Realm Miniatures. Have to say, a Krieg infantry block is quite something in flesh! Will finish them tonight which will give me enough minis for a first Minigeddon game tomorrow. The planned list, using EpicUK rules, will be: - Infantry Company, Commissar [300] - Tank Platoon: 3x Leman Russ, Commissar [175] - Super Heavy Tank Platoon: Shadowsword [200] - Warhound [275] So far so good! ![]() PS: Sorry for the iPhone-desk-lamp picture quality... |

A month, incl. a weeks holiday, later! After building another thousand points and starting to sand the bases I managed having 4 games! ![]() The army's record so far: 1 W - 2 D - 1 L The last game was against a club mates great Black Legion force with 2k lists! Our game wasn't as bad for my guys as I feared it will be but definitely learned my lesson how brutal a Terminator + Lords + Demons formation can be in CC! ![]() Even a 4+ cover save didn't help! ![]() Attachment: My personal highlight and formation of the day has been one of the Heavy AA Guns formations who, during the first turn, managed to roll triple sixes against his 3 Hellblades which bullied them into failing all three 4+ saves! ![]() My list has been Death Korps of Krieg/EUK Infantry Company + 2 Gorgons Infantry Company + 2 Gorgons 3 Heavy AA Gun + Tractor 3 Heavy AA Gun + Tractor Shadowsword Warhound Warhound Here's the (unpainted) army shot! Attachment: The reason there's no news on the painting front yet is my thought of using a painting service to help me finish my first army! At the moment I would rather spend some spare money then the time to paint up 300 trooper etc and I'd fancy the idea having a finished army not only to give my opponent a visually better experience but also thinking about a tournament sooner then later. But no worries, a (very) likely second army would then get painted by myself as I am by no means against the idea of painting my own stuff. ![]() I wonder if anybody here got experience with any UK-based painting studio and could give recommendations? Like to finish with two more wip pictures: Here are two objective markers in the making! Poor little AT-AT will be one of the Take 'n Holds. Luke is still missing after he crashed his Snowspeeder. Attachment: And here's my count-as Shadowsword aka "giant ray gun of death"! Attachment: The chassis and the "gun" are both from the excellent Dark Realm Miniatures range. Like to ad some turret mounted weapons to the two empty disc at the top front and work on the gap between gun mount and those "stripes" going round it. Inspiration for it has been a combination of these two images: Attachment: The tanks are from one of the Star Wars video games! I am very happy with the overall feel of it and it sits great next to the walkers. So far so good! Looking forward to another 2k game tonight against a Imperial Fists army! Cheers |

I use some of the Star Wars stuff too. AT-ATs makes a good Capital Imperialis, But I think it makes a good Titan too now that you mention it ! And AT-STs as Knights ... and even the small Micromachine AT-AT as a Knight. And, Sandcrawler, Snow Speeders, X-wing and Y-Wings I use too. Good work there ! |

Hey Legion4, I also love the Micro Machine Star Wars figures! ![]() Will use the regular Tie Fighter as Thunderbolts in my next thousand points and got plans for a Tie based conversion to represent Macharius tanks! One of our club guys even uses Jabbas Sail Barge for Dark Eldar, which i think is a wicked idea! ![]() @ Tiny-Tim: Thanks, me too! Not sure about my odds though if i play like against James SM's yesterday ![]() Attachment:

My Speeders were freakishly good last night though. Terminators had some handy dice too. |

Thanks Legion 4! @ Nitpick: I had too much fun building it that I am afraid my rusty painting skills will ruin it! The army goes out to a painting service end of this week! ![]() My next project, a little Minigeddon army will be done by myself so I can get back into the painting game! But to be honest, I enjoy building/conversions more though. I am practising conversions in 6mm and hope to apply a fair amount to some Marines but as I lack experience in this scale please don't expect too much ^_^ |
