Thanks Legion!

Have been busy over the holiday and hope to be able to take some good pictures of my first painting attemps before NYE!
Tactical formation is done already, maybe able to finish two contemptor dreads before the pic session as well.

Hope they go down better then my humble conversion attemps... ^_^

The plan of the Minigeddon project so far:

1x Tactical Formation painted
1x Devastator Formation painted
2x Dreadnought (1 Assault & Shooty each) painted
1x Terminator Formation (needs lots of hours converting still)
1x Assault Formation
1x Scouts
1x Land Raider Formation
1x Land Speeder Formation painted
1x Bike Formation (needs converting)

Right, what better way to end the year with some painted figs!

Over the holiday I had my first painting session since like about 5 years aka forever!
Also the first time painting in 6mm and got to say i not only enjoy painting again but also really like the scale as it lets you use common painting techniques but also gives you new challenges :)

For my pre-Heresy 1k Sons Marines I went with a combination of the various schemes flowing around on the web! (http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/File ... heresy.jpg)
Scarlet red armour, white shoulder rim for tacticals/golden for elites, golden helmets and knee pads and a white loincloth.

After taking the pictures I realised that the Contemptors are of a lighter red which i guess comes from their lighter plastic, compared for example to the green plastic of the Rhinos. Not sure if i am really bothered by it...
Also spotted some tiny mistakes to be fixed.

As always I am happy about C&C and any tips to improve my painting! :)

Nice work on the sons MrGonzo, i like the contemptors conversions.

I'm going to be doing heresy era forces at sometime myself, i have been digging through all the old epic boxes over the holiday looking for appropriate older models to set aside. I found about 20 contemptors which is good news, now all i need is somebody with good CADing skills to do a load of arm variants, based on the new 30K stuff. ;D

Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks guys!
Glad people like the pre-Heresy theme and the painting!

Still rediscovering my painting skills and for the moment I focus on clean brush work. Once that's back in the system I'll like to start working on highlighting techs and other fancy things like legion/chapter markings etc! :)

The primer red for example is only washed and then "highlighted" with the same red and while i am happy with the shading I am wondering if I should apply some stronger highlighting with a brighter red?! (keeping in mind that digital cameras always flatten red)
Same about highlighting the gold with a silver...

I've seen some fantastic "strong contrast" painting here on the forum and got inspired to give it try before long!

Meanwhile, there is progress and I hope to be able to finish two more formations on Sunday!
Try to maintain a "one formation per week" mentality ;)

I know what you mean!
Red is a bugger to highlight nicely.

Also made a big mistake by browsing through the painting section of the french epic forum (epic-fr.niceboard.com) where i got massively inspired and depressed the same time! Where do they get their skills from? Devil's pact or something?!

Seen a very nice scheme for the old Rhinos and will test it on the two in the picture above and if to my liking will strip the first three and repaint. ^_^

Those look really nice. I think vehicles do well as slightly paler then the infantry, they're much bigger flat areas, and so should reflect more light.

Progress, progress, progress!

Here are my latest painting crimes! ;D
Unfortunately one week behind my schedule but what can you do!
Reckon that after one more formation I'll do a basing test.

First 4 stands of Devastators, sporting some more or less good loin clothes.

Then I started their taxis which then got put on hold to wait for some wicked bling bling which a club mate is doing for me and should arrive soon! ;)
Anyway, tried a different painting scheme for them - what do you guys think compared to the first ones?

Next is a formation of Land Speeder.
Pretty satisfied with them.

Lastly, I went back to the Contemptors.
After applying another black wash and couple layers red they now match the rest of the Sons much better!

Next will be a formation of Scouts and a command stand.

Cheers

Nice to see some decent Tsons! have had a 30k Tson 28mm army for ages, so it's cool to see them in tiny mode.

Cool work on the loincloths.

Thanks Apo! :)

A weird thing happened to me today.
I bought a bottle brown Dettol the other day to strip some miniatures. (http://www.ocado.com/catalog/images-hir ... 1e8c889417)

After it being spoken about a lot here i thought giving it a try instead of Fairy Power Spray and had various figures bathing in it for 5 days.
When I went to strip them earlier I saw that the Dettol turned the paint into gooey blobs which refused to fully clear off the plastic, stuck to my rubber gloves and completely ruined a clean toothbrush.

Anybody else experienced the same?
