Post subject:  Space Marine Armour Variants

Hi
I have been busy painting a new force and I wanted to include some Space Marine armour variants in line with the fluff I have read about the Blood Ravens.
I would like to include some LR Crusaders, Helios, Prometheus and Damocles Rhino. Unfortunately no one makes them. I then went and had a look at my Grey Knight LR to see if the sponsons fitted a GW LR and they do. Would it therefore be possible that FW could produce variant sponsons for GW LR to meet a need. The same could be done for the Damocles by using a Whirlwind/Hunter chasis and adding the appropriate piece to it. Likewise for all you Blood Angels fans Baal Preds could also become a reality.
Now the hard part, convincing FW that they have a market. All those who have an interest and would be willing to purchase a conversion pack of sorts, please post now and give me some feedback on the idea.

Cheers
CAL

P.S Now to email FW with the idea and see what they have to say. ???

More on the idea

1. Damocles Command Rhino (for character in you army)[B]

Chassis based on that used by Hunter/Whirlwind
FW produced Communications Antenna

2. Land Raider Crusader (Black Templars unite)

Land Raider Chassis
FW sponsons with Hurricane Bolters and the twin linked assault cannon to replace the heavy bolter

3. Land Raider Helios (lets work on some stats)

Chassis as above
FW missile launcher and tergeting array. Minor conversion work required to fit launcher, targeting array to replace heavy bolter (HB)

4. Land Raider Prometheus (once again for character or we can develop stats based on command vehicle)

Chasssis no change
FW sponsons with quad mounted bolters and targeting arrays

5. Baal Predator (come on BA players its in your list)

Chassis Preadator
FW Turret and sponsons

I would like to see them produce a whole range of there 40k in Epic. I have sent them an email to feel out my position (weather or not it is hopeless or not), so lets post and provide the with a demand so they can fill it. Dont make me switch to 40k just to have them. :D

Enough from me

Yeah, I'd love to see these ideas becoming a reality.
Being Marines, I daresay they'd sell pretty well too... :;):

Didn't we see a Baal Pred master model on the SG site, or at Gamesday a year or so ago?

Agreed, it would be nice to see FW produce those variants.

You could actually convert a LR Helios pretty easily, since it has Lascannons in the sides and a Whirlwind launcher on the top.  You have extra WW turrets from the WW/Hunter blisters, just GS over the hole where the HB turret was.

Everything else needs some new parts.

You had me at hello.

Any plans to do an Armageddon fleet are on back burner until FW produce some Voss prow ships.

You can only try, I had thought along the idea of seeing if it was possible to commission a limited number of pieces for my own use. however I thought that people might want to get into the act. Even if they are limited like the multi part marines it would be a popular item.

does anyone have pics of thes emulti-part marines i have been hearing so much about?

I think what i would like to see first with marines is some heavy wepaon variants for devastators

even they don;t make new rules - just to look a bit more interesting.

And scouts with sniper rifles - sweet!

Just to be the post-Christmas grinch here... he's my personal speculation on the "state" of Forge World.

I have a sneaking suspicion that your going to see Forge World in 2006 concentrating more on support for the core 40k and WFB lines than on the Specialist Games ranges. If GW is adjusting the release schedule and support for SG ranges I can't see why they wouldn't do the same for FW as well.

If you look at Forge World's new releases from the last few months they've mostly been geared towards either high end items or mod packs for existing kits in 40K. I would expect that as a new WFB campaign season comes up you'll see support for that line take the place of releases for 40k.

I'm not holding my breath on new stuff any time soon in otherwords.
