What is the best way to clean old GW paint jobs off plastic and white metal minis?

Thanks

Brake fluid is great for stripping paint off plastics without damaging the model.

Simply drop the models in a bath of brake fluid, wait 24 hours (or even more... it doesn't really matter), and remove the paint with an old toothbrush. Cheap and efficient. The toothbrush can be fatal for epic infantry, though...

Brake fluid works for metal as well, although not as well as on plastics... Regular paint stripper should do the trick.

For Plastik: Ethanol (ethyl alcohol/ grain alcohol) 24 h

For Metal: Acetone (in Nail polish remover) 30  min.

Happy stripping :p.

Does it matter what type of paint you're stripping?

In Acetone (the only one I've used personally), enamels usually take a bit longer, or even a few scrubbings and re-soakings.

I have used Pinesol before with good results, but now I use Simple Green since it is non-toxic and biodegradable.  I just put the figures in a jar full of simple green and let them soak in it for a day or longer.  Then just scrub the miniature with a toothbrush.  It works well for both plastic and metal.

Hi!

Simple green seems to work best.

Yes ^^. But these solvents do work in most cases. Acetone would melt your plastic figures - use it wisely Luke. :D
