Post subject:  Hovering vehicles

I am going to start on some Eldar vehicles and I am looking for suggestions on basing the vehicles so that they hover.

Is brass rod in the base and the vehicle the simplest way to do this?

Brass or plastic rod.

My Vanaheim use a 25mm round GF9 base and .100" plastic rod:

My Eldar don't already have a hole for a flying stand, so I'm using 1/32" brass rod and 3/32" brass tube on a 25mm round GW base for the falcons and 5/32" tube for the Engines of Vaul (which were already drilled out for the previous incarnation of the army).

There's also clear acrylic rod out there, I have some in 1/16" and 1/8" diameters. It'll be more of a paint to paint the models (have to mask it and it might snap, or you can paint on a paper clip or something) but it'll be that much closer to invisible.

I might find brass rod easier than acrylic rod. I also like the idea of making the stands detachable. Easier to paint and easier to store.

Might give that a try
