Hi Folks, As the title says im after the true scale of these monsters of metal, Probably the likes of the local wolf or other titan fans will maybe know some background on this. Basically have never really been a fan of titans but recently after reading up on the fluff have become very fond of the idea of building and painting some, The largest of all strikes my fancy as i love the pre hh fluff and the old pictures of marines running down the steps of the legs of these beasts ![]() But most of the fluff states full companys could be stored in the legs, having never seen one of the gw imperators in the flesh i cant tell the scale but seeing photos of the minatures with 6mm dudes at their feet its seems to me they are well under scale. Also some pictures on the net show comparitable scale pictures but if you go off these there would be no room inside the metal beasts for ig or sm companys, anti boarding teams etc... So im looking at building my own from scratch with plastic card, wood, and other bits and bobs but some ideas and suggestions on scale would be helpfull from you guys ![]() I think i will start from the feet upwards ![]() bit, but the two large weapons will be an issue any ideas........ As for the head it will be greenstuff unless i find an already made source but would like to make it myself as i have seen a nice old picture on the web of a drawing where the titans head is not a face a sort of balcony that slightly resembles a face. So will start the ball rolling once i get a scale idea, Hopefully i wont end up building something that i ends up looking like a transformer ![]() ![]() Suggestions most welcome and hopefully i will have a leg soon.............bring on the large metal mickey ![]() Regards epic |

I've thought about this in the past, no idea on the scale but I was going to build one centrered around using this as a basis for the top. Might be some use. |

Cheers CST, yes that looks pretty good for the job, Im thinking a bit larger, but looking at the picture of a game I recently got to work on my pc again "final liberation" Its got mega pants graphics but the dynamics are very cool ![]() Anyway on looking on the front cover picture it shows sm and ig running out the leg doors, Im not sure on the gw scaled epic one but im pretty sure a 6mm sm standing on the leg steps would not be to the same scale, Anyone fancy doing a scale pic with gw leg and sm or ig mini ![]() Anyway here is the picture i mean ![]() Regards epic |

The model is actually not far off that scale. The door and first step are roughly 6mm. Maybe off by a millimeter but the scale is (surprisingly) about right. |

As said this was just knocked up fairly quickly and i will take more time to do the actual model legs but im pretty sure this is bigger than a gw leg and seems fairly in scale with the titan picture in the books. What do you guys think should i proceed or is this going way of scale, i was planning on using some of my chapel towers for the pointy spires on the top......... Anyway here is a pic of the test leg ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards epic |

Cool project! I`ll be interested to see how it develops. I think the comment that the plastic Imperator is scaled the same as the artwork is wildly innacurate - the one in the artwork is roughly two to three times the size! Good start on the project, but you`re off with the proportions - the leg should be a fair bit wider at the bottom. I would very strongly recommend buying a plastic Imperator to use to make an accurate larger one. Once you`re done with it you can always ebay the plastic one. |

Cheers Glyn, Yes mate i need to get one to have a look at, And as for the leg yes it needs to be wider, It was just a quick trial to see if very thin plasti card could be used and what detail it could be used for, Im pretty happy with it, I will measure and build everything now in twos when cutting and measuring including two new legs, as this will make everything symetrical, I may even drop in rubber to aid future builds. Also will use the little men now to use as scale so at least i will have some form of measurement scale to work off. Its the legs and the canopy im most looking forward to ![]() Regards epic |

The plastic workshop imperator is indeed way under scale with the artwork, 13 cms to the tip of the defence laser on the rear tower. An in scale model would be huge, a true god machine, look forward to seeing the finished model. |

Hi Guys, Finally got some hobby time to try some work on the god machine, After making the quick one to see what the construction using very thin plasti card as its easy to bend and glue, also what the detail would look like and how i would attempt the feet, windows and doors etc. After taking into some considerations of comments about the bottomm legs needing mto be much wider etc, and also probably wanting to get the old gw model to check scale etc, I was fortunate enough that a seller on ebay was selling one and had taken large shots of every angle in his sale ![]() i just studied the photos and saved myself the money ![]() The feet i was happy with, I also wanted to build the two legs at the same time so i could duplicate the other leg at the same time to keep both legs the same size, detail etc, It worked out well, I made the bottom as wide as possible within reason and taped the plasti card in postion and used brown packaging tape to hold the bends together and glued internally plating the inside for etc strengh, this worked out well. The bottom door where simply cut out with a craft knife then another piece of plasti card added behind to add depth and arches, this was also trimmed to give detail, two little round windows drilled using an electric drill, The upper balcony windows i was going to do the same but liked the look of the large open windows as i can imagine more seeing the the sm leaning over firing that the farty little windows. Gw icons added, icons, skulls etc to add detail and a gun turret made with plati card ew wars motar for the gun and an imperial icon added to round it off, The paint is finsihed but it needs a heavy ink was to weather and out the detail. Added some little old green sm and a lr for scale, All in all im happy with the result more so that the one leg looks like the other ![]() with the rest of the monster but im looking forward to building the towers and guns the most, Anyway here are some pics of the progress so far....... ![]() ![]() ![]() The heritics quake as the ground shakes, mars will soon construct the rest ![]() Regards epic |
