I see Grandma is stopping all the old.....I mean newish but considered old already paint colours to bring in a new line of all colours ???

Typical agressive sale pitch from these bunch of toads :-\ Im told all old paints will become discontinued so i would stock
up now or risk loosing your armies colours as new shades are introduced >:(

Sounds like a great time to switch all my base colors over to Vallejo. Oh wait, I already have :)
All joking aside there's plenty of comparison charts between suppliers that the matches really are great. If there happens to be some particular shade that they don't have in the new line it's easy to find a match (the infamous firery orange and tentacle pink for instance)

Here's a good one on dakka dakka I often consult

Honestly I think it's a great idea - I'm looking forwards to trying out the new tech paints (o:

The price is horrendous though.

You should actually go down to a local store and try them out - they are quite good. And if you check out the comparison chart on the GW website, you'll notice that most colours still exist. The paint itself has changed, not the shade. Thus, new name. It's better than calling it Goblin Green for 25 years and actually being like 5 different shades.

I for one am super excited to see Brass, Copper, and Pinks all back in the range and in multiple shades.

Let's be clear - the chart on the GW site is "Best Fit". Shades can and will have changed; Calbanite Green is the listed replacement for both Dark Angels Green and Orkhide Shade, which have very different hues. I too am looking forward to seeing what can be done, the textured paints in particular seem like they might be suitable for basing small scale figures.

Yes i all for the new colour schemes, but the fact is that they are not keeping any of the old colours,
Why not just introduce new ones, thats my issue,

I agree, but it's probably down to sales, it's why they don't just release an errata for 40k, but instead a whole new edition

that approach has now moved into the paint range..... congrats GW, the only thing I still buy from you, and now I'm moving to a competitor.....

With the shades, bases, layers sounds like a foundry system. A foundry set would be cheaper even with shipping.

Yeah, that white base was rather kick-ass.

Are they getting rid of their washes? Devlan mud, badab black... etc. I looked on their site and i don't see them, i could just be missing it as i am not the best net surfer.

They're being replaced by the Shade range. By all accounts the Shades are at least as good as the washes from a technical standpoint, but the colors have changed slightly. The closest equivelents are Nuln Oil and Abrax Earthshade.

They have the entire set for sale in a carry case. The GW Oz website is promoting it like a great buy at.... wait for it... $870AUD!!! :o ::)

In the UK that deal is 50p cheaper than buying all the paints individually (barring the case)
