Just wondering, with the new 40K Tyranids being released... has anyone thought about converting their Epic Tyranids to the new style?
I'd love to due to my mass collection of them, but just so little time and so any things to do.

Hi Lextar,
Jervis has asked me to put a revision on the current E-A 'Nid lists to incorporate the ideas of the new book.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

What are the new ideas? Some of us don't play WH40K...

I was thinking of that last night Lextar. Was possibly thinking of doing something along those lines for the competion.
My ideas were centred around the larger models like the carnifex and the FW heirodule (?).
Ideas were centred around using 40k gaunt models for the larger epic stuff but having to cast a few copies of things like the carnifex to generate enough parts to convert into a remodelled c'fex.
Geezzz im not good at explaining myself today.

I have almost every type of tyranid in both epic and 40k, and play both games. I can assure you that the new tyranid 40k dex is not significantly different to the previous one.
From a gaming point of view, the most significant changes are probably biovores (they are a bit weaker), warriors (tougher versus the big guns), stealers (faster and better armour), and zoanthropes (multiple powers), plus synapse creatures ?are a lot more important. Also all the tyranid small arms are better (all rerolling either their to hit or to wound rolls, which means shooting can actually be a viable option sometimes).
All in all changes are tweaks rather than big revisions. The single biggest change is probably the ditching of the mutant rule which means no more 'hive node' gaunts (synapse gaunts!) or rending claw gaunts (gaunts with genestealer attacks!)
A big deal is being made over all the carnifex options but really these don't change it nearly as much as people think (from a gaming perspective, if not a modelling perspective). I suggest we just stick with the screamer killer option in the list we have a present. We could have a shooty fex option but I'm not sure we need it with exocrine in the epic list.

Erm... I meant in modelling terms... as in changing the looks of the epic to look like the new 40K.
The recent few issues of WD, there are all these nice looking spiky Nids, just wondering if anyone else has been thinking that these look nice in Epic scale.
From my "Wolves to the Slaughter" I converted some Tyranid Warriors with the old/newish Sything Talons. I wasn't planning to stop there, just skill and time got the best of me.
I'm hoping that some wings from the Warmaster range will help me create the flying Tyrant, but still waiting for the delivery.

LOL just seen Drasannar's genestealer, think i'll give up on this idea now
i was wondering about using warmaster lizardmen but i have never seen any up close to judge if they are usable or not. i think i would be looking to convert the warriors, zoanthropes, carni's, tyrants. nothing smaller would be messed with.
the larger stuff i would maybe try to get away from the slug/snail tanks and try and give them the insectoid six legs thing and try to carry that idea through the army, prob using the 40k plastics cut down to a suitable size. trouble is then they would be larger than other armies vehicles of equivalent size.

Well please go for it - I look forward to seeing what you come up with! The new tyrant looks much like the epic version, (and 2nd edition tyrants), but tyrant guard, zoanthropes, raverners etc are new.
What sort of wings were you going to use for your tyrant?

I hope they do some of the newer looking bugs. But I fear they will just re-release the older plastic look.

The trouble is that they are sculpted with things like shields, feathers and Aztec armour.

Hi all,
I've had the idea for a while to change the old 28mm hive tyrant into a Hierodule by bulking up the back and head and either adding some small talons for the sythed version, or adding another cannon for the barbed. As far as hive tyrants go i'll use the smaller Epic 40k? ones.
I think it would end up big enough to represent DC3.. Other thoughs where to convert 40k termagaunts.
Have other people made their own hierodules and if so how?

I actually picked up one of the new Tyrant Guard. If there isnt a unit in the new list for them, there certainly should be as I think that they fit the Epic Tyranid force nicely. One day, I will assemble them with Scything Talons in the middle limbs, and possibly Fleshborers at the front.
Other ideas are to use the new 40K Carnifex as the equivalent to an Imperitor (just because it is such as nice mini).

CS - It must be that 'Great minds think alike'...??
I had the exact same thought! The new Carnifex is too blasted big to field as anything but a Nid 'Imperiator'... but wow... it'd be cool!! ?
