So; with my Tau army project winding down - not much left to paint ;D - I'm looking for a new project. Always having been fond of the look and the 'behind the iron curtain' mystique of the Soviet armies from my youth, the plan is to build an 'imperial guard' army, based in East Germany or Poland, 1987.

These are the plans so far:

Lehman russes will be mixed versions of T72's and T80's; yes, I know they're smaller, but they look so good =P Might do something with basing to make them fair.
Buses will be BMP-1, 2, 3's, maybe some of the wheeled APC's too
Hydras will be Tunguskas and ZSU-23's
Valkyries will be Hinds
Basilisks will be 2S19 Msta's
Manticores will be either SA-6 or TOS-1 Buratino's:

But I really want some Demolishers - our local house rules really make them shine. But what model to use?
There's the BTR-T, which is kinda designed for what the Demolisher will be used for - urban warfare - but looking at the rl vehicle really doesn't have me convinced. Also, it would be an anachronism, as it appeared after the first Chechen war (1994-6).
Image,

So - ideas for 1987 Soviet Demolishers?

Thanks ;D
And now you know what my interrest in that DRM super heavy was for, Legion 4.
Although that would be for special silly occasions only, ofc.

Well it's a start:

I haven't sussed out what I want to use for the Demolisher yet; latest idea is the ZSU-23's, but ideas are still more than welcome.

Those armored vehicles going to be sentinels? Can't wait to see them painted up.

You suck, knock it off.

P.S. That means it's good.

Looks better than my T-72 Russes. A lot better.

Thanks for the nice words ;D

Here's today's work: 9 Russes, 9 chimeras and 4 Hydras. Progress ftw!

Nest up: Infantry! And a rather bloated order from the pleasant people of Wargames Emporium ..

BTW I solved my Demolisher conundrum: A mix of these guys:

Yes, they're both howitzers. However, the silly idea of strapping a mortar to a tank body has been dead pretty much since ww2 ..
