hmm... no one got any ideas? I've finished my FireDragon Troupe with two custom made Exarchs. I've got two more Wave Serpents to paint... then I'm wanting to do a special Falcon Grav Tank for the Fire Dragons, but not sure what I can really do. Anyone made a conversion before? It's the latest GW Falcon Grav Tanks |

Hi Lextar, problem is that the new Falcon is such a complete-looking kit there's not much that can be done to it! For example, I modified my old plastic Falcons by adding wings, but that old model had lots of scope for conversion. Ironically, the better a model is, the less there is to fix or change! And then again, the Eldar aren't the easiest race to modify - Orks, Chaos and the Imperium are far easier! What might work would have to applied on a small scale: 1 - colour scheme - the easy way! - use a very characteristic scheme. 2 - weapons fit - select a turret appropriate for the Dragons and give all tanks the same type, if you have enough. 3 - basing - if you like basing models, place a couple of extra dragons next to a tank 4 - banners: add a thin flagpole at the rear of the vehicle and fit a long, thin streaming pennant to the rear. 5 - markings - apply FD rune transfers (or paint them) on the hull 6 - Drakeskin - apply a thin coat of green stuff over flat areas of hull and inscribe a scaly pattern on them 7 - weapons upgrade - replace one weaon with something suitably long-barrelled, representing a fire-pike type of weapon. It won't have any affect on the game, but will characterise the FD Falcons 8 - fins - add small fins over the flat parts of the hull, pointing up and appearing continuous to the hull i.e. try to follow, or extrapolate, the curvature, to make them seem part of the wraithbone hull. MAny ways to do this! 9 - make one over the top conversion, mounting a dragon head over the basic hull shape, and use it as a lead vehicle, with the others being merely similarly coloured, or with FD maeks or pennants. Ok - I've run dry now....  Good luck, Lextar!

If you're just looking for fin ideas... I bought some second hand Wave serpents where the person had cut the "blade" fins off the sides of the Nightspinner hulls and mounted them on the rear platform next to the turrets. Something similar could give a dragon wing-like appearance to the turret. |

Now that I finished off Fuegan and painted him, I sorta gone off trying to mod the Grav Tank for him  I've made a few changes, but not really happy with it and not how I imagined... *sigh* oh well... trying to paint it now. |

Hi AM "V", didn't you have pics of a MK.1 Falcon with wings you added on ? The wings were the blades off the SM2 Mega-Gargant's "bow ram". I cut mine off too and glued CinC Dragons Teeth instead. I still have them in my bitz box !

Looks ok to me Lextar - my friend has a falcon I nicknamed 'The Fire-engine' carrying firedragons. Just a fiery paint-job. |

Finish the job, paint it up, and let us see it. Sometimes as the artist, you can become too critical because the vision in your head does not match the outcome perfectly. Where we will see it for what it is. Often it is better then you may think. dafrca |
