"The waiting is the worst part..."
"So the battle isn't so bad?"
"Oh, right. I forgot about the battle" *whimper*

Having done a thread featuring the Emperor's Children in all their elite fancy-boydom, it's high time I focused on my hordes of guardsmen. The steel legion has been finished for a while. This thread is dedicated to my minervans, Elysians, and "low-tech guard". If anyone's curious about my steel legion stuff, take a look at a few of Dave's batreps... they're the ones that eek out the 100-300 point victories and annoy the hell out of Dave :P

So, welcome to my IG catch-all thread!

First up:
"Old Rubber Sides", a green-stuff test of an Epic 40K Russ. The turret, las cannon, and dozer blade are metal, but the rest is... not.

He'll be a commissar or filler for a tank platoon.

I acquired some FW stormblades a little while ago. I really love these models. They're done in the scheme I'm using for skitaari and minervan AV's:

Basically, the scheme consists of a base of shadow gray, drybrushed with codex, followed by blotches of iyandon darkson with a green ochre drybrush. Then the whole thing is washed with badab black and given another drybrush of the grey and ochre.

Ughh... missed some spots with the wash, I see from my own pic. @#%@#!!

In the same scheme: Centimanders. Otterware tankettes with an IG autocannon suitably modified.

Command version: I used the same autocannon guy, but put a twin flared muzzle on the end to represent a flamer:

You should put a pin-up on Ol' Rubber Sides. A fat chick with mammoth love handles ought to work.

Love the Stormblades and the Centimanders. If I had painted my Steel Legion now, I would have gone for these colour tones as well.

Nice. Are you using the Centimanders as Chimeras or as Salamanders?

The inclusion of Command variants with Heavy Flamers (as well as the 3+1 squad structure) suggests Salamanders, possibly with double duty as Centaurs for Kreig.

SG is right; they're salamander proxies.

They could probably work as sentinals too, if you were playing the right list. Very nic idea.
