Post subject:  SM Raptors & Squats - A slow process...
After many years of resisting EPIC and occasionally looking at it thru the magnoculars from the safety of the bunker, Onyx dragged me forth into the radiance of EA and gently shoved me down the path to "glory" earlier in the year and I have been grateful to him ever since :D

thought i would finally extract digit and post up some pics of my marines...once again thanks to Onyx for sharing his wisdom about painting & positive encouragement, it got me to the point where i went to a tournament with a fully painted army for the first time in my 18 yr gaming career (i suck at maintaining enough focus to finish 1 project ::) )

they arent great but they is done and that is plenty for me :)

Gotta love the Raptor's no non-sense color scheme. What paint color did you use for it?

thanks for the kind words :)

@ Dave - i used Army Painter Army Green spray primer and then hit it with devlan mud...

@ Rastamann - as Dave correctly identified, they are Raptors chapter (ravenguard successor chapter)...they use a drab green but their chapters colours have been changed by GW a couple of times...for a time they were bronze and originally there was a blue/yellow scheme (when they were called the Raptors Legion)...so thats why i had added blue/yellow bits to certain models, bit of a homage u could say...and my termie captain has bronze armour...

now i am looking to start on my squats...but still decide a colour scheme that i will be happy with and that i havent used for other painted minis....

a few painting lessons i learnt this last week...

1. dont paint after a few drinks at a work function
2. whilst slightly inebriated, dont listen to croatian metal band doing a rendition of Mozart's Turkish March...this leads to using paintbrush as conductor's baton, which leads to mess (paint was still on brush)
3. the latest GW pots give me the poops as the lids dont stay open...i solved this with a simple toothpick...i will have to get a pic of it to show u what i mean...

I've never had to worry about the first two (especially the Croatian Metal...), but the third is a great idea.

Works for me !!! EXCELLENT job !!! I'm planning on doing a Bn of Raptors too !!! I like their color and according to the fluff they are experts in jungle warfare and more -" The Raptors are a Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard created in the Second Founding. The chapter specializes in jungle warfare, ambush, infiltration and sabotage."

... like me ... according to the US Army ... any way !!! ;D

here are the pics for the toothpick solution i mentioned previously...

essentially wedge in the toothpick to the desired point until the lid is tilted so the paint is accessible and also not dripping down the back of the pot (as u can see happened to the pot of Mechrite Red before the toothpick discovery)...

chaplain dreadnought for my EPIC marines...next will be a land raider painted up in black as a Chaplain delivery system...

experimenting with an idea for a transport for my Squat infantry...the painting is very rough, mainly cause i just wanted to see how the colours worked and how it looked post hacking up of the MKI Land Raider...it can always gets stripped back...

Nice solution to the GW paint pot issue....and I'll be using it until I'm fully transitioned over to coat d'arm for may paint.
