Okay, I got my first tube of Green stuff!  *applause*

So are there any tips, suggestions, what NOT to do with it, etc etc?

Keep the stuff and the tools wet until you are done. Dont let it dry out.

I have been told layers are your friend. Mix small amounts and build up to what you want. Don't try to do it all at once.

Least that was what I was told.

To paraphrase Dafrca, less is best - you can always add more later. And it's surprising how little you need in many cases - don't waste the stuff by preparing loads. A couple of mm length of strip is enough, esp. for Epic cases.
I strongly recommend CS' suggestions about wet tools, as it sticks really well.
Whilst it's excellent for sculpting when still uncured, don't forget it can also be filed down really well when hard. DON'T file it when uncures, you'll only clog your files (painful voice of experience, this). And give it some 24 hours to cure before filing, drilling, undercoating etc.
Enjoy!  :D

Keep it very, very wet while scupting....

seriously, spit on it or whatever, but keep it wet and it will do what you want much more easily....

*pokes up head from temporary lurker-dom*
Its also a goodmove to keep it in the fridge (or freezer) if its fresh. It prevents any of it curing in before you use it & gives a better working consistancy.
However, if you bought yours from GW, then its most likely been standing in a warehouse for a few months & its not worth refridgerating it.
*returns to a temporary state of perpetual slumber...... :D *

I hate this green stuff personally, it smells so bad.
Has anyone tried 2-part epoxy putty instead?  I find that much better:  you can smooth it out with water, it lasts a long time, you can apply lots of it in a single layer, you can even cut into in when its semi-set.

I use MilliPutt so I have few tips.
But keeping your tools damp is a must wat ever putty u use.
If your making something detailed or a complex shape then build in stages.
I find alot of work id easier if done ?when the putty is semi firm. For example if u take a look at my Mirco Fighter youll see either side of the wind-sheild two tubular sections that join. To do this I made ?one bit.. let it semi-firm and then finished shaping it, then built the other bit on top.

Sorry, I thought you guys meant the single tube green stuff by "squadron" brand. ?That stuff I hate.
