Hello all, I've put together some pages showing more pics and construction instructions of the Phantom I entered in the competition at this link:
http://members.shaw.ca/seebaran/My%20Phantom.htm
From there, you can navigate to the Mk2 (which I never entered) and to my Warlord (which I painted some time ago). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, CF

Very cool! Quite a different painting process you use compared to most of us here I suspect. I really like the idea of sandbags on top of the warlord. After all your stages of painting how do you protect your models - do you just spray them with a matt varnish?

Beautiful models, well done CF. The banners are particually good, and airbrushing really makes the Eldar titans stand out....

Very cool! ?Quite a different painting process you use compared to most of us here I suspect. I really like the idea of sandbags on top of the warlord. ?After all your stages of painting how do you protect your models - do you just spray them with a matt varnish? |
Actually, these eldar minis are the only ones I've painted in this different way, and this was because of the "mysterious" nature of the eldar I was trying to achieve. ?The Warlord was painted in the same way I would paint a 1/35 scale WWII tank. The sandbags were added mainly to give a sense of scale. ?With a model like the Warlord, its hard for the viewer to appreciate how big the damn thing is unless you have some measure of scale. ?Sandbags are easily made out of putty: ?Make a roll, press an old shirt into them to impart texture, cut with exacto knife, drape on model. ?I've added them to the tanks of my SM army (in progress). All my models are sprayed with matt varnish from "TESTORS", and this protects them very adequately. ?Make sure to test the spray on some test pieces before you do the good model, as they can discolor the pastel chalk. ?BTW, has anyone tried weathering with this chalk? ?It is absolutely fabulous: ?nothing else is as subtle, or models dirt/stains/battle damage as effectively. You can buy it at art stores: ask for the SOFT oil pastel chalks, then rub them on sandpaper to make dust you can use to transfer to your model. The brand I use is called "rembrandt".
Canucks fan, it's awesome - lovely paintwork, great scheme, and a very nice banner too - brings out the often forgotten 'ancient race' in Eldar. I'm fast becoming a fan of your Eldar. Any other armies, incidentally? ? |
Thanks,
I'm in the process of building eldar and SM armies. ?Both contain about 1/2 scratchbuilt items. ?I won't post a diary of them, but I will post some updates as I paint them. ?However, there is one or two surprises that I'll keep secret for next year's competition

?
