After a big break from Epic I have started modeling again. I am planning on making a BL army so I've started with 12 stands of normal BL marines.
The paint job will be somthing like: back undercoat, drybrush with something (probably gray) to bring out the edges, gold around the shoulderpads, light purple for the tentacle/chaos bits and boltgun metal for the gun. Hopefully this will give them a look that isn't just all black. So here is pic number 1, the green stuff bits will be the light purple.

The green bits are chaos mutations, tenticles or just general oddness. I'm having so many because that way I have a lot of light purple and thus not an all black BL army.

A deep blue drybrush rather than grey will give your troops a deeper colour, but not just black. A rim colour of brass will then look good against the deep blue/black base colour.
You've gone to lots of detail with the GS - I'm looking fwd to seeing how it turns out!

Terrifying dedication, though, green stuff on each, single marine! Impressive, Falesh!

Thanks for the tip Tas, I'll give that a try.
Well I first tried to get the old chaos marines off eBay, but they were so rare and cost so much I decided to go with plan B.

"Knights, Prepare to Teleport",,,,,,,,,"Wait, wait, he hasn't finished painting yet, are there pics up, NOW GO"
It's hard to see the mutations from that pic but 'way to go' can't wait to see them 'phase 2'

any chance of close up shots of the green-stuff that you've done.
Love to see what you come up with, as I've been recently obsessed with the Chaos (working on my final Slaanesh troops) and was planning to do Iron Warriors and Black Legion next if I don't get swayed by the Eldar.

I would welcome any battle, though I would quite like a challange for my first fight, maybe I should look for some Orks rather then puny Grey Knights....
I'll do a close up for you, though it's nothing special, just warped green stuff. Since I'm going to be doing quite a lot of green stuff'ing in this army I am resisting the temptation to go crazy with the details.

Next phase, the shoulder pads, is done. Now all I need to do is base them, which could be a problem since I've run out of square bases, argh! I might have to re-evaluate my policy of never using the new bases, decisions decisions.
