This thread is a master thread to make it easy for modellers to find info regarding the stripping AKA cleaning of old models, both metal, plastic, resin and otherwise.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I've just stripped about four layers of heavy paint from rogue trader era beakie marines... using the soak and scrub with toothbrush and brakefluid technique.  No ill effects after leaving them soaking for several weeks.

For metals I will continue to use paint stripper because it is quicker.

Hi,

For metals I have found standard household All-purpose cleaners are fine. Available from almost all megastores/hardware stores. Not suitable for plastics however.

My last batch were stripped of old paint perfectly fine and now smell of Orange. :D

Cheers,
Freshmetal.

Any tips about FW resin ? I got a used FW Reaver today, but it's painted (not badly at all, but sadly not compatible with my color selection). I suppose I could in theory put another coat of primer and start from that, but I'd run into the risk of obfuscating (???) some of the details, which would be a shame.
