When I cleaned my GK's I made sure to use a fresh new blade in my hobby knife. If it is sharp enough you don't need to use much force in order to remove the spikes so the chances on anything breaking is greatly reduced.
Superglue works just fine for resin models in my experience and I think that it is much easier to work with than epoxy glues.
I hope this helps
Cheers!

I got a ?100 order for Christmas (some BFG stuff, various Taus), and made another one (paid by myself) of Eldar vehicles.

hmmm... that article about preparing model kits... are all FW models like that? seems a lot of work considering I've recently ordered a whole load of Tau.

I've had a fair amount of flash and vents/gates depending on the stuff, but most has been in very good condition. Washing the stuff with soap is, OTOH, mandatory or nearly so if you want your paint to stick. Using spray primer is a very good idea too...

I found a mix of super glue and model 'plastic' glue is a good mix for some of the small fiddly bits on the FW figs'. Sometimes the superglue doesn't go off quick enough and has no 'stick' to hold the peices in place. On a different note, does any one know if FW is bringing out any new Tau in the next month I've got my order well over ?100 and don't fancy having to suddenly do anouther. Cheers.

One suggestion I used when building my FW Epic Bommerz was to put a glob of superglue onto an old CD case and then dip the small items in the glob before sticking them to the main body of the plane.
To get superglue to go off quicker, breathe on it, as the moisture in your breath helps it to go off.

Received my GKs this morning, looks like FW shipped the two halves of the order in rapid succession. Unfortunately one of the termies has a broken halberd will try to glue it back, but these models are so fiddly.
Speaking of fiddly... I had a go at the dreadnoughts yesterday. Had to use the epoxydic compound, as I didn't have superglue and the other alternative on hand was the kind of glue which works on plastic by melting it (and does squat on resin). Well anyway, it took me over an hour between cutting, filing and glueing but it seems like I managed to assemble one of them. I really hope the other FW kits are not like this....

If it's broken, phone them. They replaced a couple of my Kroot that went the sameway. Cheers.

I prefer not to ask them to send another shipment to Italy for a lone epic scale terminator halberd. Worst case, I'll arrange something with milliput.

I use Superglue myself and occasionally pin fiddly parts.
I tend to mount turrets with magnets.
