Been thinking of starting a new army based off the French Chasseurs Alpins mountain troops using a winter / woodland smock, with my usual trademark beret and additional goodies. Unlike the previous stands that had the standard beret, I went with the more realistic style with the tarte (larger beret), as well as adding various forms of backpacks, and having different camo on the model to make them more individual rather than having a mass of troops painted the same way; as well as going for a slight mountain terrain style stand.

Let me know what you guys think and whether its worth doing an army of these guys.

Small update:

Finished another 3 stands, and testing a camo for the APC. Trying to give the army an international mix of sorts - the infantry themselves lending to the French Chasseur Alpin style of design, with the APC going for a more Soviet BTR-80 style in Afghanistan feel. Overall, I'm fairly happy so far (APC needs a wash and some touchups), and I think I can start working on my first 1000 point army for these.

Going to end up making a custom army list for them, as browsing through the various PDFs I have, I don't see any army list for a mountaineer light infantry. I see the Elysians being fairly light, but these mountain troops arent meant to be airmobile, but rather being light infantry on wheeled APCs that arent as heavy as Chimeras. Basically using RL terms, I'm trying to give them the feel of being equipped with BTR-80s and the odd airdropped BMD-3 rather than BMPs and T-80s. Could be doable though, I think I've got an idea to make them as unique as Elysians are to the standard Steel Legion list., just need to type it out.
