Hi

Has anyone got any good pictures of EA Ork armies? Preferably Evil Sunz.

Since Epic Lounge is down I am looking for some inspiration to help me finish some part painted figures.

Thanks

James

Always good to look at MoK's armies!

Thanks Mok- I spent a lot of time looking though your thread so hopefully I came close.

A couple of the models I had bought were part painted- the ones with yellow. Part of the reason for basing them on warmaster bases was to try to get a consistent look, although I also did some more highlights as well.

For the ones I painted I started off with base coat with a mixture of mechrite red and blood red. I love the pigmentation of the foundation paints and the blood red for extra brightness. Then a wet drybrush with blood red, followed by mix blood red and blazing orange, and then just blazing orange. The final highlight I used my smallest brush and a mix of blazing orange and I think hobgoblin orange..

The basing was a mix of a couple different different sands, undercoated black and painted from Calthan Brown though Tau Sept Ochre to Bleached Bone. I did most of the drybrushing before i glued the figures to bases as I am quite a messy painter.

Initially I was thinking of more muted colour scheme- I really liked the ones painted by Carl Woodrow over at Dropship40K. But I have been recently painting W40k Iron Warriors and LOTR Uruk-Hai. So I needed something brighter after all that bolt-gun metal and tin bitz. I thought your really "popped" and I was went for similar.

I might try a few Gunwagonz a touch darker and see how they compare.

Thanks

James

I have lots of Orks in my painting log (look in my sig.) Mostly Bad Moons, but there are some Evil suns in there as well.

Yeah I too have an Ork paint logg in here on page 1 currently. But it's also Bad moons and not so much Evil suns (the first few pages are necrons though)

Thanks L4.

I am avoiding painting Bad Moons for the moment. Firstly I really struggle painting yellow, although the Iyanden yellow foundation paint might help me out in that respect. Secondly my favourite clans have always been Evil Sunz and Goffs, and I wanted a force that could be used for rulebook Ork list and then with a couple of small additions be used for Speed Freekz.

So am going for mainly gunwagonz and warbikes/skorchas/wartraks.

I have made a bit more progress today on the next batch. Aiming to do a little every day.

Quick question- should I use my Lifta-droppas as Flakwagonz or Oddboyz? I know the old rules for them had AA stats.

When I finish the ones on my painting table I will have 4 actual Flakwagonz, 4 Bubble Chukkas and 4 Lifta Droppas. So depending on how I use the Lifta Droppas I will have either 8/4 or 4/8 respectively for Flakwagonz/Oddboyz (along with 20+ Gunwagonz).

Thanks

I'm using mine as oddboyz, but really as long as you're consistent, go with it!

OK- I think I have managed to find some bits I can convert some more Flakwagons. Which means I can do likewise and use the Lifta Droppas as Oddboyz, which should mean I have enough of both Flakwagonz and Oddboyz.

I have had a good afternoon painting, almost finishing next batch. Will do final highlight tomorrow. Will be able to finish 3 more Warbikes, 2 Flakwagonz, 5 Battlewagonz and 10 Gunwagonz. Have also undercoated and based some more Warbikes, Skorchas and Flakwagonz.

So hopefully within a week or two I will have all but the infantry finished for 3k army.

Cheers

James
