So far, so good - painted in the colours of the Legio Victorium (dark blue and gold), he's getting there. ![]() ![]() Two things: 1, What colours should I be doing the cabling on the torso? 2, Thoughts on a base scheme? I was originally thinking Scorched Brown with Bestial highlight, not so sure now. |

Hy Dysartes, very dark red, or black shaded with red. Base - as is, with dark to light grey drybrushing. Add some bit of wreckage or ruins for contrast perhaps. Oh - and looking VERY good too! ![]() |

Hi! I agree, red would be best. Also a light green for contrast would suit as well. Primarch |

Red Gore mixed with black, highlighted with Red Gore, mebbe? For the eyes, I was considering using DA Green, then putting a mix of Green Ink and Gloss VArnish over the top when the fig has been varnished. Could look cool. |

Hi again Dysartes, the red you described should be just fine - if you like it too, at least! My personal eye solution is similar, with yellow instead of green and flesh or chestnut wash (or is it ink?) over the yellow, giving a reddish-brown rim to the brighter yellow eyes. The green eyes should work well with the LV scheme. |

Hmm - someone suggested adding ablack 'n' white check pattern to the Knight, but I'm not sure where would look good (if I try it). Any thoughts? |

Looking good ![]() black and white check pattern normally goes on the lower leg platings, the chest platings or the top plating between your gold rims. I'd recommend to keep as is, but if you really want to, then add to one of the leg plating only. |

Nice work! Pale green or red eyes would both work well in my opinion (DA green is too dark for this imho though- pale green with a wash to make the eyes shine will contrast better), and I like the checks idea as well, for a bit more interest! For the base- I think scorched brown/bestial will also not contrast quite enough- for my desert bases I do a basecoat of bestial brown, and highlight with Bleached bone. You could try using snakebite leathe or mixing up a lighter brown if you think that contrast will be too great. |

Heraldric stuff looks nice but keep it simple if you plan on painting many knights. (now why did I just start humming "It's been a hard days knight... ![]() ![]() My knights Here's a couple of old knights painted in the colours of House Krast. I painted them back in the old Titan Legions days but I remember the heraldric stuff as being quite a pain to paint. Recently I did this Baron . The heraldric stuff is quite simple: Start with a simple cross and add a few stripes in each diagonal corner. http://www.epic40k.co.uk/iB_html/upload ... -Baron.jpg Checks are a bit more complicated; I'd start by painting the vertical lines and then fill in squares as I go. If you start by painting the entire grid you easily get the one colour checks too big and if you paint each square individually it is difficult to make each square properly ....erh... square! For the base I'd pick a lighter colour like bubonic brown. It's quite yellowish so it should contrast your model nicely. Alternatively go for Desert Yellow or graveyard earth. paint the cables green oor red or, if you feel up to it: Paint them yellow (start with a quick coat of white) and add blaack stripes to them. It sounds more compplicated than it is and the result looks nice and tech-ish to contrast with the gothic/medieval look of the Knight's carapace. Not the best example but you might be able to make out the wires... Cheers! ![]() |

Couple of updated pics - they've come out a bit dark, though, and my apologies for that. ![]() ![]() I've painted the cables and the base, and used Snot Green in the eyes. Still undecided on painting a chess board on it, though. |

That looks excellent! ...Good job on the base and the cables... If I were you I would paint the eyes a lighter green though so they stand out better from the dark blue. |

Hi Dysartes - looks great. I'd go for the chessboard if you were fluff-conscious - knights would be attached to the Legio, not be part of it: the heraldic markings would indicate this status. Otherwise, it looks ok. ![]() |

May I suggest that if you not sure about the chess board pattern, just try it out on one of the plating on the bottom half of one of the legs. And if you don't like it, you can easily paint back over it ![]() |

Painting the chest would be a mistake. If ur gona paint anything, paint the right leg n the left top bit... or vis-vera ![]() |
