Hi. The recent discussions on the Imperial Knights for the Adeptus Mechanicus list got me thinking.
Personally I've never been too fond of the "robot spacemarine" design so if they ever make a reappearance I hope they redesign them a bit. I couldn't help wonder what a new Knight design could look like so I sat down and begain to do a few skatches of my own.

I imagine knights as a cross between the Sentinel and Warhound. Something bigger and more powerfull than the sentinel, but less titan like and more boxy like a walking warmachine than the Warhound.

This is the result I came up with. Still needs some tinkering but I'm planning to try and scratch build a couple of these alternative Knight Paladins. Other knight types may come later.
I know they look a lot like some of the Battletech Mechs but hey; if it's a great idea why not steal it? ?:D

Looks interesting. I like the idea for the most part. I look forward to seeing what your final mini looks like.  :D

Hi Warmaster, good to see sketches - very useful and simple way of communicating.
I like the concept - at first I thought they were too sentinel-like, but the shields and tabard make a load of difference. I'm not sure whether a forward mounted (i.e. not on top) low slung head (as in the Warhound) would look good.
Cheers, and looking forward to see them in the - er - metal/plastic/greenstuff. :D

I know that several people here do not care for the old knights, but I like em.  I think that if you make a scaled down Forgeworld Warhound type knight, that it would be so cool.  That type of conversion is way beyond my feeble efforts, but it would be cool to see a pic with a Warlord , Warhound , and new Knight all standing there together.  :D

You are not alone. I like *Some* of them. I did not have as much of a problem as others.

Well i found the box containing my old Plastic Knights and found a pleasant surprise. among all the plastic was an old Baron which I'd never finished painting. I couldn't resist so I finsihed it off. Sorry that the pics are rather bad.

Anyway I've begun the first tests. I'm trying to use as manu parts from the plastic Knight paladin as possible. I've got most of it sorted out except the most important part: the main body/head.
