After reading Baccus6mm essays on wargames scale, and doing some thinking on Warmachine, I think the game could play nicely with 6mm figures. For a skirmish game it has a lot of high-ranking and important characters, so I figure if I replace warrior models (non-'jack/beasts) with squads on a 6mm it should work nicely as a company- or battalion level game! (Plus, I get to buy several cheap armies to try out). Warcasters would be a single base with a command squad, while 'jacks and beasts would be single model (on oversized bases, but you can't have everything).

Does anybody got any suggestions for 6mm models that can be nice proxies? Could be several different ranges, to represent the different WM/H factions.

Sounds like an adventure. I would be scared off at a company or battalion sized WarMachine/Hordes game as my feeling is it would collapse under it's own weight (it would take forever to play).

Have you playtested WM/H at this scale or is this an idea in the planning stages?

Nah - he's just using a 6mm squad to represent a single WM model - so a WM squad of ten trenchers = 10 squads of 6mm trenchers.

I think flames of war might have something - is there a 6mm Weird world war model set out there?

What madd0ct0r said. I find that the ranks and importance of the officers on the table jars with the number of troops under their command.

I'm using Khador as my example, given that that's what I play. Warcasters have the rank of Kommander, which according to the Force book is a rank that usually commands a Legion of 10,000 men. In addition, any Khador force that has Winter Guard will include Kovnik Joe to boost the squad, and Kovnik Joe is in command of a battallion of 3000 men. In 30mm you got the Kovnik commanding a squad of 10-15 men. With 6mm it's still extremely few, but at least he would boss around about 50-75 men.

it, like epic, is supposed to represent the pivotal part of a larger battle
the idea being that when one warcaster finds itself against a bunch of mooks, mooks lose, thus, no game
so when two warcasters face off, it zooms in to the central point to determine which warcaster wins, and whichever one does, is the one that then creams the opposite army.

i think the game would work better at a 10 or 15mm scale than a 6mm one. but i suppose it could work.

and no, i cant think of suitable 6mm models for most of the stuff in the game

Thanks for the pulpwar tip, could be useful for warjacks and maybe circle warpwolfs?

I'm guessing that if I go ahead with it I'll have to get a few models from many different manufacturers. Is anybody making napoleonic 6mm?

I dunno anything about warmachine or hordes, but if you're after generally unusual creatures etc for it, rapier's 6mm greek myth section might fill some gaps:

Had a few further thoughts, I'll make a Khador and a Legion army. Khador should be easy, base it around Winterguard and Iron Fangs, and I can use thirty years war musketeers/arquebusiers and some form of armoured spearmen.

For the Legion army, it would be some fantasy elves, but the focal point would be the warbeasts. I'm thinking something scaled at about Warhound size, which I think would fit the 40mm/50mm bases of beasts. Unlike the 'jacks and infantry I think they could be really cool to keep at a scale of one mini per base, although a lot smaller than PPs huge warbeasts. Anybody got any good suggestions for minis to base small scale versions of these on?

I believe Zombocom produces a few things that'd work pretty well.

I had some similar thoughts. However, I'm thinking that 40k Gaunts might be even better. They're supposed to be on a 50mm base, after all, even though I'm planning on the minis not hanging off the base edges like these do.
