Ok. Not so much a Wargame as it is a boardgame, however I have about 4-6 weeks before I get our group to play a game of Circus Maximus:

Now rather just play with the chits, I wanted to make it more of an experience so I decided to provide miniatures instead of cardboard. I was also going to upscale it to 15mm, yet with the timeline given, and the need to get the most 'bang' for my limited 'buck' at present, I have decided to go with 6mm. Now there are quite a few examples of what people have done in the past, but I am going to try something different - I am going to go with replaceable/interchangeable parts at the 6mm range.

So below is an example of the bare bones Chariot I picked up from Eureka Miniatures (it is an Irregular mini that they are licensed to make):

As I have to fit in onto a 0.5" x 0.5" square (or 1" long by 0.5" wide for the whole chariot), I have taken the Dremel to removing as much of the base as possible to place it onto Plasticard.

The next step will be to finish all 10 bases in this manner and then drill a whole in the middle to place a magnet (for the interchangable chariots of course)

I also have selected 3 specific chariots to represent the Light/Medium/Heavy options in the game so as people can literally see them rather having to ask all the time. The light Chariot is going to be the most work as I am going to have to hollow the whole thing out to just a platform on wheels. After that I will place a rider on top. The medium Chariot is fine as is. The Heavy chariot needs to have one of the riders removed so I am not looking forward to that either.

So there is 10 of each to do so that will easily keep me busy for the first week at least :P

Here is also a strip of 6mm single figures which I am planning to use as either
1. drivers of chariots
2. drivers being dragged by a runaway team of horses after a Chariot has flipped
3. drivers that are running for their lives after their chariot has flipped and they have cut themselves loose

Image

Crashed chariots will be made by cutting a Chariot body in half and placing them onto an appropriate 0.5"x0.5" square base.

More when I actually start to see some proper movement on this little task...

Done some more work

Created the Light Chariots, and filed down the Heavy Chariots to just one man each. The medium chariots are as bought.

Holes have been placed on the team bases to take a magnet. Not pictured are the Riders being dragged (just been sprayed and nothing special to see)

Have to buy some more medium Chariots to act as wrecked markers and also some more civilians to act as Chariot-less individuals. Happy with how far I have progressed and really hoping the painting will be a breeze.
