They arrived this morning and I’m very impressed - they look fantastic. With most of the photos being of very well painted models I wondered whether some of the detail might be painted on, but it’s on the models. The detail on them is slightly exaggerated as you can see on the photos – whether you like that or not is matter of taste, but I decided I preferred slightly over-exaggerated detail compared to larger nuns than slightly under-exaggerated. They are delicate, but game-worthy. The archangel is without a doubt the best 6mm infantry sculpt ever.

I really shouldn’t have considering my finances, but after a protracted argument my ‘ooh pretty models!’ side won out over my ‘WAY too expensive – save money for future important things!’ side. After selling off so much already and soon I should be ok to get through to when I can get a job.

I’m not going to collect a whole army of them but use them as counts as in my (mixed/allied lookl) Marine, Guard and Ad-Mech armies, so at least they’ll get a decent amount of use. I bought the now sold out army pack and I think I’ll have around 4 stands of spare basic sisters models spare that’ll I’ll be looking to sell for what I got them for plus postage if anyone’s interested. I received 20 or so extra backpacks too, probably accidentally, so if anyone is interested in buying some really detailed desperate sisters backpacks with fleur de lys on please let me know.

In case anyone missed the earlier threads search for item 150627105119 on eBay.

i could sure go for a few more basic sisters actually. i was considering buying an extra set in order to do so (i bought 3 of the army packs and a few other bits and bobs) and by my count, i'm going to be rather scraping it together to fit the various HQ choices on...

good to know they're as pretty in person as i'd hoped

Well someone figured out how to use CAD or some such machination ... :o 8) Still think he's pushing the envelope about copywrite and putting them on eBay ... But hey ... can't argue with "success" ... ;) So I guess it fits in with G/W's take on Epic - They really must not give a @#$%^&) ! ;D

Has anyone considered contacting him and suggesting he sell them privately on here?

I really don't think you should be suggesting to him that he 'sells' then anywhere!

So it's just going to be you, a tent, and 50 nuns camping out all summer. Does the Ecclesiastiary know about this?

PM sent for the 'extras'

Let me know exactly how many you’re short once you know. I think I had a couple of extra sisters than I was expecting overall, unless I miscounted, so it might be worth you waiting till you get yours and counting them.

Both you and Westside have expressed interest in them, but you asked first. Perhaps if you only need a few you could have them and the rest could go to Westside?

I’m not keen on them being on eBay, as I said previously, but was under the impression L4 already cautioned him about them being on there to no effect? Go ahead and suggest selling them on here instead though if no-one else has? I might have but it would have felt a bit hypocritical while buying some off him at the same time.

Judging by the instructions note that came with them his English is generally understandable but not perfect mind. I’m confused as to why it tells me to glue the jetpacks on using latex gloves.

I’m pretty sure they’re hand sculpted L4.

Lol! :) Yep – a bit longer than that actually and taking them round the world. They’ll have some strapping lads a bit more their size as chaperones, so hopefully the Ecclesiarchy won’t mind.

Most of my room full of worldly possessions need to go into storage for a few years (I’m praying my uncle will be willing to store them when I ask him, if not and I can’t find anywhere then I have a very serious problem) but I do actually plan to take the sisters and probably some Ultramarine pals with me camping and then travelling. If everywhere I'm thinking about works out they’ll come with on an adventure to Panama, Costa Rica, Australia and New Zealand (I keep changing my mind in which order), with possibly some desert islands in-between should my dream of trying to learn to sail and sailing between Oz and Central America come to pass. I figure painting them will give me something to do at quiet times and it’d be nice to have an army to play as many of you guys as I can meet on my travels.

Hmm shiny, a little rich for me however. Am I mad or was there a similar offering by one of the CADers here? Zombocom? or am I losing it. Assuming im not mad does anyone have both types and can compare?

Yep, see here for the models Zombocom made himself.

The ones I have are nicer... but not that much nicer in the scheme of things (I think the most improvement is on the heavies). The archangel is definitely worth it but I'm slightly regretting my move for the amount it cost me. I'll just have to make sure to paint them up exceptionally well to make it worth it.

Did you really pay £7.10 for a single 6mm character? wow. Back to beans and toast for you, young man!

Beans and toast is a reward, surely?

I bought it as part of the army deal, so may have got slightly cheaper, but yes :-[

I have actually been eating far too much beans and (freshly home-baked) bread recently as it happens, while I try to use up over stock-piled food.

Yep. I would probably classify myself what some call a 'doomer', as in someone highly aware and worried about the impacts of peak oil, climate change, economic and/or societal collapse. I’ve been vaguely aware of some of the issues since I was young, but after researching climate change for my old dissertation I started reading around more and becoming increasingly concerned.

Stockpiling a decent amount of food was standard practice for most of our ancestors and is simply one sensible precaution, with no real downsides. I just did a big online supermarket shop of a few months worth of food and stored it under my bed, gradually eating it up, though not replacing it; since I knew I’d be moving out. I took advantage of various deals on at the time rather than missing them meandering through the store and saved money by buying it in advance, since inflation on food in the UK is currently 5.7%.
