I always liked the AT/SM era lead/metal Space Marines.
They are much bulkier than the green plastics of the time. And, for me just really fit the image of the genetically/chemically enhanced 10 foot tall Adeptus Astartes.

Since the models are beakies I painted them up in a Rogue Trader/Old White Dwarf style.

Heres a rhino with some Tactical markings that were in WD 117 (I think) and a shot of the Tac and Devastator squads with their Sgts.

Very nice, neat idea to Rogue Trader-ize them.

Very well painted and the scenery looks like a nice gaming board in the pictures, I to like the old metals as the normal tactical ones looked pretty smart, but the missile dood was way bigger in scale than the other fellows, Also they should of made more postions but then again look at the green plastic ones only one stance ???

Also these are pretty rare now so to make an army would cost a fortune as they come up on ebay from time but go for decent money :-\

Keep up the good work regards epic

Old School !!! I love it !!!!!!! ;D ;) And yes ... most of my Dark Angels are these old metal SMs. Still have a Bn of each, Red Scorpions and Raptors Legion to do with these Old School SMs ... ;D

The missile launcher guy does seem a bit large. It's kinda strange GW keep that concept even in the plastics.
When they are on a stand they don't look out of place (especially when they are on the table and your standing up).
Fluff wise, maybe they just give they heavy weapons to the biggest marines.

I had to get these painted up for a game this weekend, but I have more stuff from the 'old-school' era that I will add later.

Considering Forge World is now making the 'original' dreadnought as a 'new' release, whats old is new again: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/C ... _BODY.html
It's kinda cool to have a stash of the old plastic ones just waiting for paint.

I'm really tempted to use most of the AT/SM space marine armor and marines I have for pre-Hersey and Hersey armies.

Yeah, I got a bunch of the old SM1 metal dreads too ... F/W is going a bit retro ! ;D And I don't think the M/L is too big ... these old SM minis are a little bigger overall than the plastic ones ... Image

Like the Dark Angels, the custom jump pack is top notch too.

The beakies look great. What a treasure some people have in their stores. L4 does not count, he is a living museum.

Wow, I'm impressed! Very nicely done Westside! I love the retro look, I don't think I've seen a whole army done in the old metals before - they are much better than the plastics.
