Quote (primarch @ 29 2003 Oct.,00:42) | Hi!
Who makes the truck models?
Sorry if I missed the explanation in a previous post.
Primarch |
I knew someone would ask that before I had time to check!
I kept them carefully in a bag with the product code on: CM14
I think they were supposed to be Chinese, but Chinese stuff is so often based on Russian kit, Maksim may well be correct.
I didnt note the manufacturer as I've bought them 2 years running at Salute (UK convention) & since I know the stand & the guy running it, didnt think I'd need the name... Ooops.
I'll try to look it up ASAP, but it probably wont be til monday

That army is looking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool. I can't wait to see all the re-enforcements from FW painted up as well.
Also, thanks for the advice with the flying bases, I wanna do some like that and never knew how to!
It makes me feel ashamed as to how much you paint in a week compared to how little I do. I am very jealous!
Cheers
Chris

CM-14 is a Scotia code.
And the great majority of Red Chinese kit was modified from Russian kit.
It's definitely not a US M-548. Sorry, L-4. The cab is all wrong.
I would think that the peice would look off next to the "larger" 6mm Epic pieces.
Does it look small, Tuffskull?
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Just a guess off the top of my head, late at night?! ? ?
Weapons Hold Status! ?
Nothing in either of my Janes or Warsaw Pact Armies book? ? ?
Sometimes 6mm/ 1/285th models are not always accurate renderings? ?
Hmmm... more research is needed...

That's where I was heading next ... good research, Jimbo! ?
And yes, amazingly the Chinese do come up with some of their own designs... the K63 APC is a good example. No Western army would use them, but the Iraqis had some in the first Gulf War. I remember seeing the burnt out hulls on the news... not an amazingly resilient vehicle... ?
And of course, their version of the Hummer is... well... "fascinating"...

Well, it looks like I don't need to do much research then! That certainly is the correct identification.
They are a little small against Epic stuff, not perfect by any means, but they work out OK I think - better than most of the transports I looked at.
I only ever buy proxies like this at shows where I can see the models first & always carry a Leman Russ and/or Chimera so I can make a comparison on the spot.
Very useful think to carry in your pocket that, a MBT...

Thanks. I wasn't aware that over 1,000 posts was laudable.
I'd prefer just to be regarded as a good contributor and valued member.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Anyway, for the shortest entry ever, Nothing got done at all from Thursday to Sunday as I was hiking on Dartmoor
