As some of you might remember I've been working a bit on a Krieg Army for Epic (Well it was Krieg baack then... now I guess it's called Baran Siegemasters). Anyway: I was wondering if anybody had any info in colourschemes for the Krieg army? I've been experimenting a bit with brown but to be quite honest it looks awfull. I did a Scortched brown over Black undecoat with Snakebite Leather highlights and the tanks litterally looked like s*** ![]() The Infantry poses another prroblem. They should not be mistaked for my Desert force which also uses a brownish colourscheme. I've been thinking a bit about grey... I don't have any "codex grey" guard so it would look nice (and dead easy) for a change. That trench mud tends to be rather grey and dull as time goes by. Since Krieg is supposed to have been devastated by 500 years of nuclear war I suppose there's a lot of ash flying arround... Final option is something in between: Mixing my own brownish grey. It just might work... What do you guys think? And if anyone should know anything official please tell ![]() Cheers! ![]() edit: I expreimented with graveyard earth and command khaki drybrushed over black undercoat. It looks reasonably well but I'm still very much interested in any info on other paint schemes. |

One idea I have is looking at some osprey books for WWI germans. |

You could have a go with grey with a touch of pale green added- not too much, but just enough to add a murky tinge to the grey... might work with a lighter brown too possibly? |

Yes, Osprey would be a good source. ?I recommend grey for the AFVs or one of the interesting WWI camo schemes, and Prussian Blue-gray or Gray-green for the Infantry ... ![]() |

I think you are on the right track. Since Krieg probably was an industrialized world there are many ruins out there so a kind of mix between a city camo and a mud might produce interesting results. And I too recommend Osprey although the books tend to be a bit on the expensive side for their size. |

After doing a few tests the army is now well on it's way. I've settled for the Graveyard Earth and Khaki drybrush over black undercoat. It gives a very nice pale faded brown and is fairly easy to paint (though those thin new paints are reallly annoying for drybrushing! ![]() I tested the colourscheme on a couple of tanks and some infantrystands and though they will be quite well camouflaged once painted I think they look great. Much more "real" than my other armies. I tried the blue and green but it came out a bit weird... Might work though if I had the patience to experiment more. The battleforce which will be entered into the painting competition will consist of the following units: 2 Siege Infantry companies (18 units + HQ and Commisars) G?tterd?mmerung artillery company (12 units -scratch built) + 6 Br?enhilde Transporters (conversions) Siegfried Light Tank squadron (6 units -basically Gorgons) Blitzen 88mm AA gun battery (3 units -FW models) Thudd Gun battery (6 units) Stormsword Siege Tank squadron (3 units -conversions) Warlord Titan (Semi-converted with plenty of "Siege" weaponry) If I can find the time -and the inspiration- I'll also try to scratch build a squadron of Ragnarok Heavy Tanks. I know this is not a tournament legal force but what the hell... I think it's more fun to add the units you like to make up an interesting looking army. Until next update: Cheers! ![]() |

If I go for a seige army it will be in horizon blue. I already have a 6mm WW1 army so its a case of a few tweaks and a couple of counts as. I know that blue may make L4 cringe, but then again it did that to the French in 1914! I've done true camo for S Africa/Angola wars and lost the troops on the board and forgot to activate them ![]() Cheers |

French _did_ have bluish unfiroms in WWI as you mentioned so I don't think L4 has anything against them. ![]() |

I have been making a Jopalli force. The Siegemasters list was originally an Armageddon PDF list and that's when I started constructing two E-A armies: an ORk one and an IG one. My Jopallis have a slightly Italian look with a bright green base coat with toothbrush specked white dots. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I found a pic of the Death Korps on the GW site. Not much but the infantry seems to wear a very dark brown, almost black coat. The veichles are blackish/greyish but that could just have been a Studio tank for some other army... The greyish brown I'm doing is close enough for me ![]() Cheers! ![]() |
