Hi guys,
I just had to cross-post this incredible work:
http://forums.specialist-games.com/epic....ID=3284
To show it can be done?
I?ve whacked up a few pictures of the first painted elements of my Necron army. They?re a long way from the current 40K models, I admit, but not too far from the original Necron line. It was very much a case of an ?80-20? split in how accurate they were ? and I value my sanity.
First up, basic Necron warriors ? standard Chaos Androids:

Then a Lord ? converted from a Chaos Champion and styled after the original Necron Lord (with big hat!). I stole the idea of the Lord from someone but I don?t know who?

Destroyers! An easy conversion using a cut down 40K scarab body (with the legs trimmed to make jets), Android torso and Ork Nobz? gun:

And the obvious Tomb Spyders ? Scarabs with the mandibles trimmed off, and arms from a plastic Ork dreadnought.

Scarabs were a challenge. In the end I used Eldar Guardian heads, 20 to a base, which works roughly right:

And finally the big toys! The Monolith is largely a scratchbuild, working from a 25mm slottabase. Other components are an old Necron Lord?s head, and the ?fins? and guns from plastic Eldar wraithlords (which I acquired a lot of getting Androids).

The Pylon is a very simple construction, made entirely from Land Raider hatch sprue parts and a bit of green rod from a Necron gun; it comes out small but functional.

Here are the war engines to scale:

Well, only another 2,500 points to paint?.

Hi Justiniel,
How are your own Necrons coming Maksim? Any progress? |
No. They're on the work bench, but I'm more interested in getting some SMs on the board and expanding my Nids a bit.
By the way, I'm out of my home at the minute, but I haven't forgotten our trade.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Those are some great looking minis for a "none produced" army. Looks like he has the full line covered. Wished he had posted a shot of the full army though. Would have been great to see.

I just know that yours will look better. ?

Hi Dafrca,
Hey Maksim, in a way does this guys site seem like a challenge? I know it would to me. |
Sort of, but I'm still getting over my hard times.
I've been doing massive Spring cleaning (laundry, linens, under the fridge, uncer the couch, etc.) and I am also cleaning and organizing my minis.
In addition, my friend Mojarn was slighted by Signius and I would like to compensate him out of my own Epic collection.
I just know that yours will look better.

I haven't even thought about a Pylon or Scrabs yet.
On the other hand, my Monolith sculpt is very impressive so far. I haven't been having much luck with casting it though and my coffers are low so it might be awhile before I purchase casting supplies again.
I also can't afford to buy Necron sprues to get the plastic Scarabs I need. I have one (1) at the time being!
Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
