The FW Thunderhawk is huge, and does not seem to have a hole for the flight stand. Any advice from anyone that owns this monster? Did you use brass rod or the acrylic provided flight stem. It just seems so big for that. Also I guess you have to drill your own hole for the stand either way?

I used a drill to sink a magnet into mine, and super glued a magnet to the top of the provided flight stand. I put the flight stand into a 60mm raised base (dreadnaught) and based to match the army. It's really durable, easy to store / transport, and looks good imo.

Mate,

I drilled a hole the size of a prass rod abour 2-3mm diametre. Then attached the brass road to a large flying base with some green stuff to creat a better look. Detail work on the base and then sprayed the rod black. I made the hole deep enough that the road model would not slip off.

Cheers
Aaron

Magnetised mine, then used the Aeronautica flying stand it comes with.

My two have holes drilled in the bottom the same diameter as the end of a plastic flying stand, which goes in them. I assumed they were originally part of the model, but I guess they must have been drilled in then (I bought my pair second-hand). Either a hole or magnet should be fine.

i base my flyers on 1/8 inch clear rod from plastruct, and i play aeronautica as well as epic so the above posters, i drilled a hole in it only 1/8 inch. i found that its a fat enough block of resin that i didnt need to magnetise it, hole was deep enough to fit pretty snug on the clear rod (I glue the clear rod to areonautica stands by driling that hole out a bit too)
