Hi,

After a long hiatus from GW, I now find myself with plenty of spare time so I no longer have any excuses for not getting through my enormous backlog of unpainted mini's. So.. without further ado, here are my Blood Angels.

My plan is to slowly build the army throughout the coming months to the best of my ability - these will guys will probably never grace a tabletop...

Hope you enjoy!

Nice :)
I guess you would want to use Assault Mariens for Sergeants ;)

Thanks :)

I thought about doing that, but then I would have fewer assault marines. I might do that with the next tactical formation though, to mix things up abit.

Also, I figured bolters for serg's in dev squads makes more sense :)

Mate,

Looking great so far, looking forward to seeing more. They are very nice models indeed, will have to chat to the maker again.

Cheers
Aaron

Hi all,

Thanks for all the kind words.

I've been at work for 4 weeks, and am now on leave for 2. So hopefully I'll complete a little more before I'm back to work :)

Firstly while I was away, I ordered a Blunderhawk from forgeworld. It is huge! I never realised how large it is. The detail is pretty good, although there is some slight warpage on the underside engine. Theres also a neat rear door which I never realised was there before either.

I'll probably paint an assault detachment first though, led by this chap:

Lastly, here are two close ups of tactical and dev stands. The photography unfortunately doesn't capture the detail of E&C's most excellent mini's unfortunately.... I'm also debating whether to give the regular marines black shoulder pad rims, ala 2nd edition, which might help to make them look a little more interesting (or paint the chest eagles also...hmmm...)

Those look great, nice and clean. I can never get sand to behave itself when I stick it to bases, always ends up on legs etc.

Looking forward to seeing the Assault marines & the thawk done.

Cheers for the compliments :)

I know what you mean about basing it can be a real PITA. In the past I didn't bother and got sand stuck on the rim of the base, or over infantry's boots...legs...faces... But with these guys after putting the sand on, and while the PVA hadn't set, I went through them and removed errant grains with my scalpel. Time consuming... but worth it.

That said, I just noticed sand all over the chaplains boots. Oops.

I good trick to get off the sand is to "wash" it off.

1. Spread diluted glue over the base.
2. Liberally stick on sand (it will go onto feet legs, etc.
3. Take a mix of water and dish washing liquid onto a big brush and drop some of it onto each of the models.

The water will rinse the model and wash all sand off it as it flows down. This will increase the drying time of the sand (effectively more water mixed in with the glue) but eventually it will harden just fine. Works for me and has significantly shortened my basing time.

Great marines btw! Lovely models and lovely paint job.
